Sony recently announced the free PlayStation Plus games for January 2026. While PS4 gamers will still have some free titles to play, Sony previously announced they’ll be shifting focus away from PS4 games starting in January 2026. Any PS4 games offered after that date will likely be those that also work on newer PlayStation consoles.
Even though many PlayStation fans have moved to the PS5, a lot of people are still enjoying their PS4s. If those PS4 gamers want to fully experience PlayStation Plus, upgrading to a PS5 is still recommended eventually. However, they’ll be happy to know that the games offered in January 2026 include a couple of titles for the PS4. Plus, the lineup includes a total of three games, which means Sony isn’t planning to offer fewer free games each month, despite some concerns.
PlayStation Plus members can download three new games starting Tuesday, January 6th: Need for Speed Unbound, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper. Need for Speed Unbound is only available for PS5 players with PlayStation Plus, while Core Keeper and Epic Mickey can be played on both PS4 and PS5.
List of Free PS Plus Games for January 2026
- Need for Speed Unbound
- Epic Mickey: Rebrushed
- Core Keeper
If you’re new to the series, Need for Speed Unbound is the newest installment in EA’s popular Need for Speed racing franchise. Created by Criterion Games, it combines realistic visuals with a vibrant, cartoon-like art style and special effects. The game received generally good reviews when it launched in 2022, and racing fans should consider adding it to their collection starting January 6th.
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remastered version of the 2010 game originally released for the Wii. It’s a tribute to classic Disney, updating the visuals of this beloved game for modern platforms while keeping the same fun gameplay that fans remember.
Perhaps the biggest highlight of the January 2026 PS Plus games is Core Keeper. This popular survival and sandbox game, often likened to Minecraft and Stardew Valley, received excellent reviews when it officially launched in 2024 after being available in early access for a couple of years. Core Keeper features worlds created randomly each time you play and supports cooperative play with up to eight friends. It’s a truly great experience when played with others, so it’s definitely worth checking out if you have PS Plus and haven’t tried it yet!
