They discovered a surprise when they loaded up with their old mods still active – they’d forgotten about a mod that adds a cat named Maxwell to the game! In a clip shared online, the player is exploring Jorrvaskr in Whiterun when they hear a faint, happy tune. Following the sound, they find a room where the Stone of Barenziah should be, but instead, there’s a tiny, spinning Maxwell the Cat.

Many fans of Skyrim have been enjoying a mod that replaces the Stone of Barenziah with a spinning Maxwell the cat. It’s available on NexusMods and quickly became popular. While it’s a humorous addition, players have noticed it can actually be useful! The mod’s music helps players locate the often-hidden stones needed for the ‘No Stone Unturned’ quest – a quest that requires collecting 24 stones to rebuild the Crown of Barenziah. Plus, the mod even adds a spinning Maxwell to the Crown when it’s displayed in the Thieves Guild, making it even more fun.
