2026 looks like a fantastic year for gamers! We can expect a lot of big titles from major game companies, as well as a bunch of promising new indie games.
TopMob has highlighted eight promising indie games to keep an eye on in 2026, including both anticipated sequels and completely original titles.
Biggest 2026 Indie Releases
Hytale
Hytale, the game previously cancelled by Riot Games, is now back with its original developers, Hypixel Studios! Fans have been waiting a long time, and it’s scheduled for early access on January 13th – it could be one of the year’s biggest game launches.
Hytale started as a Minecraft server, and it definitely shares similarities with that game. However, Hytale really stands out because it fully supports modding – all the game’s content is available for players to use and create their own content, which means the possibilities are endless.
This early release is just another step in the development of Hytale, and players should know it’s still a work in progress. However, Hytale is expected to be a major success when it’s fully released in 2026.
Demon Tides
Demon Tides is a platforming adventure set on the open ocean. Players will journey across a vast world, discovering hidden secrets and collecting upgrades as they explore dozens of unique locations. The game launches on February 19th.
The demo, first launched in February 2025, was a hit with critics and players alike. It even got an update with extra content, and the complete game is almost here!
Beastro
Beastro doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can try a demo on Steam now. In the game, you play as Panko, making delicious food for different characters. The meals you cook actually become cards that help those characters on their journeys.
This exciting adventure game combines cooking with collectible card gameplay. With tons of ingredients to find and hidden secrets to uncover, it’s sure to be a hit – look out for it in 2026!
Aniimo
Following the success of Palworld, a new open-world game where you collect creatures, called Aniimo, is coming soon. Like Palworld, Aniimo will be available to a large number of players right away, as it will be included with Xbox Game Pass when it launches.
While the full announcement is still upcoming, possibly at Xbox’s January showcase, anticipation is building for this new release. We’re getting glimpses of collectible Aniimo characters, extensive social features, and a large, immersive world to discover.
Slay the Spire 2
Slay the Spire 2, launching in March 2026, continues the challenging and varied roguelike deckbuilding experience of the original game.
I still play Slay the Spire all the time, even though it came out back in 2019! It’s seriously popular – check Steam, it has almost 70,000 reviews and they’re overwhelmingly positive. It’s clear a ton of people are already hooked, and I think even more are going to start playing soon.
Coromon: Rogue Planet
Coming in 2026, Coromon: Rogue Planet is a new creature-catching game and a follow-up to Coromon. It’s unique because it uses a roguelike style of gameplay, which differs from many other games like it.
Okay, so you’ll recognize a lot of things if you’ve played similar games – picking your first Coromon, battling wild creatures, all that. But this game does things a little differently with its roguelike style, and honestly, I think that’s going to bring a lot of people in. It’s a fresh take on the formula!
Big Walk
The team behind the popular game Untitled Goose Game is launching a new online game called Big Walk in 2026. It’s designed for players to explore a large world and chat with close friends in a relaxed, cooperative experience.
Get ready for exciting adventures filled with challenges, puzzles, and new discoveries! You can choose to relax and spend time with friends, or if you’re feeling mischievous, maybe even push them into the ocean – it’s all up to you.
Neverway
Neverway is a unique game that blends the genres of horror, life simulation, and action RPG. Players will experience life as Fiona, who begins anew by running a farm. If you enjoy games like Stardew Valley, Neverway, set to release in 2026, is definitely worth checking out.
Neverway looks set to be a major game in 2026, offering a wide range of activities like farming, fighting, and building relationships, plus tons of collectibles. It’s even more exciting knowing it was co-created by the artist behind the beautiful pixel art in Celeste.
