Throughout May 2026, plenty of free games will be available on platforms like Amazon Prime Gaming (also known as Amazon Luna), Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Itch.io. PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass will also offer free games – either as monthly selections or new releases added to their subscription services. Xbox Game Pass will even launch titles on day one, including Forza Horizon 6 and Subnautica 2. No matter what system or store you prefer, you’ll have opportunities to grab free games or discover new ones throughout the month.
Things change quickly, and that includes the availability of free games in May 2026. On PC, these free offers usually only last a few days, making it easy to miss them. For example, the Epic Games Store is currently giving away Hogwarts Legacy until May 3rd, and you wouldn’t want to miss out on that! Make sure to check them out before they’re gone.
I’m also mentioning PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass to be thorough, and I’ll include Nintendo Switch Online if they make any relevant announcements. While these aren’t technically free, it doesn’t hurt to list them. I’m leaving out EA Play and Ubisoft+ Premium for now.

It’s surprisingly not widely known, but Amazon Prime subscribers can get free games through Amazon Luna. While it’s not completely free – you need a Prime membership – many people already have one, making it a great perk.

Subnautica 2 is also highly anticipated, entering Game Preview on May 14th.
