Heartopia offers a variety of hobbies to help you relax and explore at your own speed. You’ll likely spend a lot of time fishing and gardening when you first start, but be sure to unlock Insect Catching – it’s a surprisingly fun and engaging pastime!

Insect Catching is a relaxing hobby in Heartopia that encourages you to explore the world around you and discover hidden bugs. Keep an eye on every leaf, rock, and flower – you never know where a new insect might be! Read on to learn how to start Insect Catching and fill out your insect journal.

How to Unlock the Insect Catching Hobby in Heartopia

To start catching insects, you first need to unlock the hobby. It becomes available once you reach Developer Level 6. At that level, you’ll receive a Hobby Expansion Ticket, letting you permanently choose and unlock one of three hobbies.

To unlock Insect Catching:

  • Visit Naniwa, who is located near the river in his garden.
  • Speak with Naniwa to learn the basics of catching insects and how this hobby enhances your Heartopia experience.
  • Visit all three Hobby Mentors, then return to Naniwa with your Hobby Expansion Ticket.
  • Hand over the ticket to permanently unlock Insect Catching.
  • Once unlocked, Naniwa will gift you a bubble net. This is the main tool you’ll use for catching insects.

How to Catch Insects in Heartopia

Catching insects in Heartopia is pretty simple, but it requires patience. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Equip the bubble net from your toolbox.
  • Slowly approach an insect to avoid startling it.
  • Tap on the action button to make a quick bubble, or hold it to charge a precise bubble for a careful capture.
  • Release the bubble when in range to catch the insect.

Once caught, insects can be displayed in Vivariums at home or sold to Albert Jr. for gold.

Many insects are easily frightened, so it’s important to be gentle and move slowly if you want to catch them.
