Metaphor: ReFantazio: Basilio Bond Walkthrough & Guide

As a seasoned adventurer who has faced countless challenges and foes, I must admit that Basilio’s journey resonates deeply with me. His experiences mirror those of many who have walked the path of redemption and self-discovery.

We’re finally at the last party member to join our group in Metaphor: ReFantazio, the big, strong, kind-hearted paripus, Basilio.

Basilio adheres to a similar style as fellow party members such as Junah, who exhibits the adaptable Masked Dancer persona, and Eupha, who showcases the proficient Summoner persona.

A new Bond experience won’t begin on its own; instead, you’ll have to engage with the system and invest some time in getting familiarized with it.

Starting a bond with Basilio doesn’t come with any initial quest. Instead, your first interaction with him initiates a brief conversation that grants access to the incredibly potent Berserker Archetype, which is among the strongest in the game Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Character Overview

Basilio belongs to an oppressed group, and indeed, it appears we’ve touched on similar themes, but let me clarify: this is yet another community that’s often disparaged by individuals who hold a false sense of superiority.

In much the same way that paripuses are often seen as being similar to dogs, it’s fair to say that many members of their species are perceived as strays. However, there are some individuals who manage to elevate themselves and attain respect or status within their group.

Basilio and his sibling, Fidelio, were given an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities to Louis. As a result, he placed them in influential roles within his military forces.

Upon encountering the main character and gaining a different perspective, the brothers came to understand that Louis was actually more power-hungry than appeared at first. This new insight led them to reconsider their feelings.

Following the unfortunate event, Basilio finds within himself the strength of the Berserker Archetype and chooses to align with the team for a noble cause. His aspiration is to create a brighter, more balanced world where every race can thrive happily.

Basilio’s Bond Ranks Explained

In some instances, interactions with Basilio occur in the afternoons, while others take place aboard the Gauntlet Runner. Notably, there’s no specific requirement for initiating a fresh conversation with him.

To advance to the next level, he needs to fulfill two conditions:

As I delve deeper into this game, there’s a task I need to accomplish to move up to Rank 8. This task seems to automatically unlock the more I engage with Basilio.

You can start the Bond with Basilio after the events leading up to facing Sogne the Icebound.

The encounter with Basilio starts in a deeply emotional way as it occurs immediately following the loss of his elder sibling, Fidelio.

He claims that he’s spent his entire life imitating Fidelio, and now finds himself feeling empty and uncertain about the future.

All of a sudden, Basilio begins to perform numerous sit-up exercises. Following this intense workout, his determination becomes unwavering.

He admits that with Louis’s assistance, they were heading towards becoming what they used to detest, but now it’s high time for him to alter his fate.

Instead, the protagonist and Basilio exchange an appropriate fist bump, marking the start of a fresh camaraderie between friends.

Rank Two

It’s become a trend, but Basilio also wanted to take the protagonist on a walk to shop for herbs in Brilehaven.

On this relaxed walk, Basilio runs into Vinca again, who is also a fellow paripus and an old friend of his. Both had previously taken part in experiments at the ignition experiment center.

As herbs were scarce, Vinca handed over his personal stash to Basilio. Upon inquiring about Fidelio, the friend received tragic news and attributed his restless night to a chest pain.

They say their goodbyes, and Basilio promises to cook for the protagonist.

As they prepare to depart, they accidentally catch snippets of conversation from nearby people discussing the gruesome killing of a priest. A hint of things to come is subtly suggested.

Basilio offers to cook for the protagonist as a thank-you for accompanying him in Brilehaven.

As a food enthusiast, I can confidently say that I’ve honed my skills to become a capable chef, offering more than just cooking expertise. My technical prowess shines through in the creation of mouth-watering dishes.

In the igniter tests, Basilio noticed that participating changed his perception of taste, so he needed to improve his culinary abilities to appreciate meals.

Subsequently, Basilio delves into his past, recounting the harsh existence at the research facility for igniters, which left him with severe bodily wounds, and explaining that herbal tea becomes essential merely to endure the long nights.

Following numerous friends being affected by the tests and barely escaping with his own life, Basilio and Fidelio chose to leave the research center. Their journey led them to encounter Lady Rella, who provided healing for their injuries and encouraged them to persevere.

Basilio explains that Del stopped growing as a side effect of the experiments, while Vinca likely had a growth spurt. He and the protagonist decide to visit Vinca on another occasion.

In simpler terms, they discover Vinca moaning in agony. Basilio proposes that he visits the church to consult with some healers, and eventually, he consents following a brief argument.

Prior to this, Vinca mentions he has to complete a task first, and Basilio steps forward to assist. Not wanting to be left out, the main character jumps on the bandwagon of helpers too.

Vinca still needs to prepare and tells them to come back later.

In the captivating city of Brilehaven, I cross paths with Basilio and our protagonist, where we’re introduced to a vital figure named Vinca. She outlines a crucial mission for us: a covert operation outside the Nightcrawler. The objective? To apprehend a dealer who peddles igniters, ensuring their demise by neutralizing them swiftly – specifically, by breaking their neck.

Two individuals voiced their objections, yet Vinca clarified his reasons for his actions. Following Basilio and Fidelio’s departure, the tests deteriorated significantly, forcing the research subjects to endure extreme conditions and preventing them from escaping.

Initially abandoned and presumed dead in a filthy alleyway, something miraculous preserved Vinca’s life. Now, he wields this unexpected gift to mete out justice.

Basilio decides not to aid him, which angers the friend and causes him to push Basilio away. However, our protagonist empathizes with Vinca’s motivations and their shared hardships, but he strongly disapproves of such heartless killing.

He regrets not having Fidelio by his side for advice, but decides to find a solution on his own. Once he makes a decision, he trusts the protagonist will help him.

To start this Bond rank, you must have the Imagination virtue at its maximum level.

They learn that there is a reward for Vinca’s capture, and Basilio wishes to address this matter swiftly. He proposes approaching the Shadowstalker, possibly to locate the trader and alert him of the situation.

Basilio finds Alcea, the merchant, and alerts him that he’s the next target in the string of murders. Basilio offers his services as a bodyguard.

The man dismisses it casually, labeling them as fraudsters and even hinting at framing them for the murders.

The main character acts swiftly, and they depart prior to unfounded claims growing more severe. Basilio clarifies that Vinca holds a special place close to his heart, which is why he’s so dedicated to assisting him.

Basilio decides that regardless of whether the merchant formally hires him or not, he will continue to protect him unofficially.

However, it was Vinca who arrived first, surprising Alcea in a hidden alleyway and swiftly breaking his neck as if it were a fragile branch. Overwhelmed by an insatiable thirst for violence, the assassin’s physique seemed on the verge of shattering.

In an uncontrollable fury, Vinca’s rage escalates, leaving him with a desire to harm. Recognizing this dangerous state, Basilio urges that we cannot abandon him in a chaotic fit of emotions.

He suggests to the protagonist that they should head to the chasm where the igniter facility dumped test subjects’ bodies, assuming they’ll find Vinca there. You’ll receive the “A Brother’s Mercy” request.

Rank Eight

Prior to engaging in Basilio’s last Bond task, have a chat with him in the afternoon to address the “A Brother’s Mercy” assignment. To do so, you’ll require five points in the Eloquence skill.

Immediately after chatting with Basilio, you’ll be on your way to encounter Vinca, initiating a boss battle. It’s advantageous that Basilio joins your team permanently as he’s quite formidable in combat.

Utilize Basilio’s Berserker Synthesis, titled “Rampant Ravage,” to introduce a vulnerability in the foe and ensure your team’s health remains full.

After securing the win, Vinca reclaims authority, yet his wounds are substantial. He expresses gratitude towards Basilio for intervening and admits that what he truly yearned for was a contented future alongside all the lab subjects from the igniter complex.

Basilio believes that aiding Vinca has been instrumental in him moving past the loss of Fidelio, and for the first time, he has uncovered a fresh aspiration.

As a dedicated gamer, I vow to rebuild this realm into a land of joy and prosperity, surpassing the legacy left by Vinca and Fidelio. To make this dream a reality, I’m committed to placing the right leader on the throne.
