Alan Wake 2 “anniversary update” detailed, coming October 22nd

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest update for Alan Wake 2 has me absolutely thrilled! After sinking countless hours into the original game and its sequel, I can’t help but feel like part of the Remedy family. The Lake House DLC on October 22nd is just the cherry on top of this delightful gaming sundae.

In an exciting announcement, Remedy unveiled a major update for the upcoming game, Alan Wake 2. This update is scheduled to release on October 22nd and it comes bundled with the second installment of downloadable content.

On the official site, Vida Starčević, Senior Community Manager, expressed her disbelief that it’s nearly been a year since Alan Wake 2 was launched. She thanked everyone who played the game and became part of our fanbase and the Remedy community, regardless of when they joined or how long they’ve been fans.

On October 22nd, you’ll find the release of The Lake House DLC, which was teased during the latest Xbox Showcase. However, the major overhaul, “The Anniversary Update,” compiles various modifications and enhancements to the game based on player feedback. Remedy also mentions that this update includes their most extensive additions to game quality and accessibility features so far.

One such update is for PlayStation 5 players, as there will now be gyro aiming (motion controlled), and haptics for healing items and throwables, and not just weapons as was previously the case. Remedy adds: “You can turn the motion sensor function on and off, as well as tweak horizontal and vertical sensitivity, set gyro space, and choose whether your pitch, yaw, and roll directions are standard or inverted.”

Here’s a list of features coming in the new Gameplay Assist menu:

  • Quick turn
  • Auto complete QTE
  • Button tapping to single tap
  • Weapon charging with taps
  • Healing items with taps
  • Lightshifter with taps
  • Player invulnerability
  • Player immortality
  • One shot kill
  • Infinite ammo
  • Infinite flashlight batteries

As a dedicated gamer, let me tell you that Alan Wake 2 exceeded my expectations! It’s been over a decade since we last saw Alan, but the wait was absolutely worth it. The narrative of Saga and Alan takes unexpected twists and turns through the darkness, making this one of the most memorable gaming experiences of the year. Remedy has truly outdone themselves with Alan Wake 2; I never thought I’d love it this much! In our review, we gave it a score of 9.5/10.

Alan Wake 2 is out now on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
