Dragon Ball: 7 Strongest Kamehamehas That Aren’t Goku’s

As a lifelong anime fan, I can confidently say nothing quite captures the imagination like Goku’s Kamehameha! Sure, tons of awesome shonen series have incredible attacks, but that bright blue energy wave? It’s instantly recognizable and just screams Dragon Ball. What’s really cool, though, is that even though Goku made it famous, he isn’t the only one who can pull it off!

Goku is famous for using the Kamehameha, and he’s created many different versions of it. However, he originally learned the technique from Master Roshi, and it’s a core skill for all students of the Turtle School. Several other characters have also used the Kamehameha with their own unique styles, and while their versions might not be as powerful as Goku’s, they’re still quite impressive. Here’s a look at some of those characters (excluding fusions like Gogeta and Vegito) who have demonstrated particularly strong Kamehameha attacks.

The Greatest Kamehameha

Everyone thinks of Goku when they hear ‘Kamehameha,’ but I always remember that Master Roshi actually created the technique. He used it quite a bit early on in the series, but as the story shifted focus to more powerful fighters, the author didn’t really give Roshi opportunities to use it – either in training or during actual fights.

We need to become just as skilled at creating peace as we are at fighting wars! The teachings of the Turtle Hermit will stay with you forever! This will be my strongest Kamehameha wave yet!

Roshi, like several characters who became less prominent as the series progressed, had a standout moment during the Tournament of Power. He unleashed a powerful version of the Kamehameha, calling it his strongest attack ever. To fuel this attack, Roshi used his own life energy, which greatly weakened him but allowed him to deliver a blow far beyond his usual capabilities.

Electric Kamehameha

  • While Goku is famous for the Kamehameha, his son Gohan has actually used it more often. Although young Gohan frequently used the Masenko attack, he eventually began incorporating different versions of the Kamehameha into his fighting style. One lesser-known technique he employs is the Electric Kamehameha.

The Electric Kamehameha is easily recognizable due to its bright golden energy, which looks more like a focused energy blast than a typical Kamehameha wave. Gohan initially used this attack hoping to eliminate Majin Buu while he was still contained, but it wasn’t strong enough to break through his protective shell before Buu emerged. Gohan uses it again against Super Buu, and while their beams cancel each other out, the clash demonstrates the attack’s immense power.

Solar Kamehameha

Cell was a formidable villain, designed to be a major final opponent. He was created using the DNA of Earth’s strongest warriors, giving him a diverse skillset and making him one of the toughest enemies the heroes ever faced.

Cell is a rare Dragon Ball villain who actually used the Kamehameha wave against the heroes. Like others who use the technique, Cell developed his own versions, with the Solar Kamehameha being his most powerful. He unleashed this attack hoping to finally defeat a weakened SS2 Gohan, along with everyone else on Earth. For a moment, it looked like he would succeed, but Gohan was able to overcome the attack with a combined Father-Son Kamehameha, ultimately destroying Cell.

Ultimate Kamehameha

This Kamehameha is the one Gohan used against Perfect Cell, specifically to oppose Cell’s devastating Earth-destroying attack. It was an incredibly powerful feat, as most other fighters wouldn’t have been able to match Cell’s destructive energy, but Gohan’s Ultimate Kamehameha succeeded brilliantly.

The Ultimate Kamehameha is similar to the standard Kamehameha, but significantly more powerful. Gohan has used it in a few key battles, including against Cell, as well as during the Tournament of Power and against Seven-Three in the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga.

Majin Kamehameha

Cell isn’t the only bad guy who’s attempted the Kamehameha wave. Buu has also used it, calling his own version the Majin Kamehameha.

Buu first used this attack when he fought Goku and Goku transformed into Super Saiyan 3. He was able to perform the move by copying Goku, which was remarkable. Later, Kid Buu tried to use it against Goku’s Spirit Bomb, but couldn’t deflect it.

Chocolate Kamehameha

The Grand Tour can be a divisive show, but it did a good job including Uub. While he wasn’t a major character, The Grand Tour at least showed fans what an older version of Uub might be capable of.

When Uub merges with Good Buu, he becomes Majuub, becoming much more powerful and gaining a special advantage in fights. Majuub’s Chocolate Kamehameha is different from typical Kamehamehas—instead of hurting enemies, it turns them into chocolate, just like Buu’s Transfiguration Beam. While it doesn’t inflict damage, this unusual attack is still difficult for opponents to counter.

Super Black Kamehameha

After taking over Goku’s body, Goku Black (who was actually Zamasu) could use all of Goku’s most powerful moves. It makes sense, then, that he’d create his own, even stronger version of the Kamehameha.

Goku Black performs this attack while in his Super Saiyan Rosé form. He starts by charging a different version, the Black Kamehameha, but quickly releases it as the Super Black Kamehameha towards his enemy. He used this attack against Goku and Future Trunks, with Future Zamasu holding them still, causing them serious injuries.
