Every Resident Evil Hero’s Age Before Requiem

The Resident Evil series isn’t famous for having a clear, consistent timeline, but we can still piece together how the different stories connect. Many characters have been with the series since the beginning, facing numerous dangerous situations involving the infected. With the release of Resident Evil Requiem, players can once again experience the adventures through the eyes of a fan-favorite character, Leon Kennedy.

He’s traveled the globe extensively, and now, three decades later, he’s facing new challenges surprisingly close to home. Many other heroes from his past are still active as well. Some are nearing retirement in the 2030s, while others continue to fight against the remnants of Umbrella Corporation and other hidden threats. Here’s a look at how old each character was when Resident Evil Requiem was released.

Chris Redfield

There Right From The Start

  • First appearance: Resident Evil
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil Village
  • Age in 2030: 57 years old

Chris Redfield has been a key figure in the fight against bioterrorism since the very start of the series. Originally a member of S.T.A.R.S., he later helped found the BSAA and dedicated himself to stopping outbreaks around the world, from the original incident at the Spencer Mansion to broader international efforts against bioweapons.

Starting as a local police officer, he’s become a seasoned combat leader—one of the most experienced fighters in the entire series. We last saw him in Village, and he’s still a capable fighter, leaving fans to wonder if he’ll face one final challenge or if his story has run its course.

Ada Wong

Hiding In The Shadows

  • First appearance: Resident Evil 2
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil 6
  • Age in 2030: 56 years old

Ada Wong is a mysterious and popular character in the Resident Evil series, known for her secret operations and questionable choices. First appearing during the 1998 Raccoon City disaster, she works as a spy, often pulling strings from the shadows and crossing paths with Leon Kennedy as she tries to obtain powerful bioweapons for her own purposes.

Ada Wong most recently appeared in the 2013 game Resident Evil 6 during the worldwide C-virus outbreak, and she received a redesigned look in the Resident Evil 4 remake, which fans loved. Now that Leon is the main character again in the newest game, many believe Ada will make an appearance, as the two have a history of crossing paths since their first meeting.

Rebecca Chambers

Before The Main Event

Image via Capcom
  • First appearance: Resident Evil 0
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil: Death Island
  • Age in 2030: 50 years old

Rebecca Chambers was the youngest member of the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team when the mansion incident occurred in 1998. Highly skilled as a medic and scientist, she later focused on research and helping to develop defenses against bioweapons, moving away from field work.

I was so excited to see Rebecca Chambers back in action in Resident Evil: Vendetta! It was cool seeing her in 2014, working on a vaccine – a far cry from when we first met her as a rookie! It really shows how the series has grown to focus on bigger, worldwide threats. While it feels like her story has reached a natural ending, I’m secretly hoping we haven’t seen the last of her. They’ve definitely left the door open for a comeback, and I’d love to see it!

Claire Redfield

Fighting Her Own Battles

  • First appearance: Resident Evil 2
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil: Death Island
  • Age in 2030: 51 years old

Claire Redfield arrived in Raccoon City while looking for her brother. Though similar to Chris, she dedicated herself to helping those affected by the outbreak, focusing on humanitarian aid instead of combat. Claire wasn’t a soldier by nature; she simply found herself caught up in the disaster.

She continued to appear in games like Code: Veronica, still searching for her brother while facing her own challenges. Later, in Revelations 2, she found herself in a much more water-based environment than she was accustomed to. Claire represents a more relatable, human element within the series, and as one of the younger characters, she has potential to appear in future installments.

Jill Valentine

Leading The Charge

  • First appearance: Resident Evil
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil: Death Island
  • Age in 2030: 56 years old

Jill Valentine first became known in 1998 alongside Chris Redfield. Skilled in lockpicking and surviving difficult situations, she bravely faced the horrors of Raccoon City, the terrifying Nemesis, and even manipulation by Albert Wesker. Through it all, she’s consistently demonstrated incredible strength and resilience in the face of unimaginable obstacles.

Born in 1974, Jill will be 56 years old in 2030. However, she remains a highly effective fighter, likely due to the slowed aging suggested by Wesker’s experiments. She’s a crucial character in the series, and many of the stories wouldn’t be the same without her involvement.

Ethan Winters

A Hero Without A Face

  • First appearance: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil Village
  • Age in 2030: 46 years old

Ethan Winters first appeared in the series in 2017 as an ordinary man desperately searching for his wife. His terrifying experiences in Louisiana uncovered his incredible ability to heal, linked to a strange Mold. This turned him into something extraordinary – a resilient, bio-engineered survivor who faced unimaginable horrors to escape with his life.

Ethan Winters’ story ended in Resident Evil Village (2021) with a selfless sacrifice – he gave his life to save his daughter and stop the spread of the plague. His journey is considered one of the most emotionally impactful in the series, and his influence continues in the Shadows of Rose DLC, which focuses on his daughter’s life after his death.

Grace Ashcroft

Way Out Of Her Depth

  • First appearance: Resident Evil Requiem
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil Requiem
  • Age in 2030: Unconfirmed (Late 20s, early 30s)

Okay, so we’ve got a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, and she’s a really interesting change of pace. Unlike most heroes in the Resident Evil series, she’s not a soldier or scientist – she’s an FBI agent with basically no combat training. From what I’ve seen in the trailers for RE9, she actually seems pretty scared and vulnerable, which is a cool departure from the usual tough-as-nails characters. It makes her feel a lot more relatable, honestly.

Grace’s story began with Resident Evil Outbreak, and is connected to her mother, Alyssa, who was a key character in a lesser-known game. While her exact age isn’t clear, based on the game’s timeline, she’s significantly younger than the version of herself seen in Requiem.

Leon Kennedy

Practically The Franchise Poster Child

Image via Capcom
  • First appearance: Resident Evil 2
  • Latest appearance: Resident Evil Requiem
  • Age in 2030: 53 years old

Leon S. Kennedy, a seasoned veteran of countless battles against the undead, started his career as a fresh police officer in Raccoon City back in 1998. Since then, he’s risen through the ranks to become a top government agent, handling dangerous missions involving biological threats. He’s faced challenges across the globe, from the countryside of Spain to Eastern Europe, and is now returning to where his story first began.

Leon S. Kennedy last appeared in Resident Evil 6, but the Resident Evil 4 remake gave players a glimpse of an updated, more modern look for the character, while still retaining his charming personality. Once a young hero, Leon is now a seasoned veteran burdened by years of fighting biohazards in a location he knows all too well.
