Summer Game Fest has announced its plans for 2026, much earlier than usual. The main kickoff show will be livestreamed as always, but this year it’s moving to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles instead of the YouTube Theater.
Man, can you believe Summer Game Fest is turning six this year? It feels like yesterday it started up during the pandemic. Everything was shut down, and we were all stuck inside, so it was awesome to have a big digital showcase to keep us gamers hyped. They’ve tweaked when it happens each year, but honestly, it’s become one of the most exciting times of the year for me as a gamer – always a ton of cool announcements and trailers!
Summer Game Fest Reveals Schedule and Plans
The Summer Game Fest will kick off with a live show on June 5th at 5 PM Eastern Time. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the show promises exciting new trailers and game announcements, including world premieres. You can watch it on popular platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, and Steam. Tickets to attend the show in person will be available starting this spring, though specific dates and prices haven’t been announced yet.

While both are hosted by Geoff Keighley, Summer Game Fest goes beyond just an awards show by offering chances for media, influencers, and industry experts to try out games firsthand. The first of these experiences is SGF Play Days, a private event in downtown Los Angeles produced by iam8bit. It promises interactive displays and demos from major game publishers and developers. The event wraps up with Game Business Live on June 8th.
Summer Game Fest is known for keeping its announcements a surprise until the event itself. However, based on last year’s show, fans can anticipate plenty of exciting reveals. In 2025, the event featured major announcements like the release date for the popular game ARC Raiders, as well as trailers for highly anticipated sequels including Code Vein 2, Mortal Shell 2, Atomic Heart 2, and the show’s biggest reveal, Resident Evil Requiem. Similar to last year, expect some unexpected games and downloadable content to be released immediately during the live show, such as the Lies of P: Overture DLC.
While not all game developers use Summer Game Fest to announce their biggest news, that might change after the 2025 show. Geoff Keighley announced that the event saw huge growth compared to previous years, with 50 million total livestreams and a peak of over 3 million viewers watching at the same time – an 89% increase! That makes it the most popular Summer Game Fest yet. With so many people watching, more developers might choose to reveal their new games at the event next June, but you’ll have to watch to find out!
