How to Complete the Slugs in the Shell Side Job in Mouse: P.I. for Hire

John Brown, the black and white cat and bartender, needs our help again in Mouse: P.I. for Hire! He’s sent us on another quest to find a recipe, and this one doesn’t sound good at all. To make matters worse, we have to search for it in a place called Fart Harbor… which definitely doesn’t inspire confidence!

Just like with other cases in Mouse: P.I., you need to act fast to finish this side job. If you don’t, you’ll probably miss your chance forever. Here’s how to complete “Slugs in the Shell” before time runs out.

Starting the Side Job

You can start the “Slugs in the Shell” side quest after beginning the main quest “Glugging from the Deep”.

This task includes two smaller objectives, so be sure to have the ‘Friends in Deep Places’ bonus active when you start.

Before you head out to explore Glugging from the Deep, be sure to visit Little & Big Bar and talk to John Brown, the bartender.

He’s asked you for some pretty strange ingredients three times now, but he swears this time it’ll all be worth it. We’ll see about that, Johnny.

Now that you’ve added the side job to your list, take a moment to relax before heading to Far Harbor.

Completing the Side Job

While you’re working, you’ll run into Tammy Tumbler. Talk to her, and she’ll explain your next task: collecting the pieces needed to build a homemade deep sea diving suit. Once you’ve spoken with her, jump into the nearby warp pipe.

Don’t advance the main task until you’re about to go underwater. If you reach that point, you won’t be able to finish the side task.

The pipe will return you to the arena by the sea where you defeated the enemies. Check near the truck by the large main gate. To the right of the truck, you’ll see a shipping container on the pier extending out over the water.

Step inside this shipping container, and you’ll find it: John’s can of sea slugs, ready to grab! That’s honestly all there is to it – simple as can be. (Wait a minute… is he actually making slug pie??)

Now, just beat the main job, and then head back to the P.I. Office.

Side Job Reward

When you get back home, give John the slugs you collected. Just go back inside the Little & Big Bar and give them to him.

To everyone’s surprise, John has Jack try his new dish out, and it’s… actually good?

Plus, John will give you a Spike-D prize token for completing this task. These tokens are used to open the prize cabinet over by the bar, but you’ll need to collect 20 of them by doing John’s jobs and winning baseball games.

Once you get 20 tokens, you’ll earn the X-1 Demousifier raygun, which is a pretty amazing firearm.
