Final Fantasy 14 Reveals Release Date For Beastmaster Job

Final Fantasy 14 is finally introducing a highly anticipated job, one players have requested since before the upcoming Dawntrail expansion was announced. This new class is inspired by a popular job from Final Fantasy 5.

With each new expansion, Final Fantasy 14 introduces several new jobs, and often features important characters using them within the main story. The latest expansion, Dawntrail, added two: the Pictomancer, a ranged magic user who creates magical effects through painting, and the Viper, a fast-paced melee fighter wielding two swords and known for their powerful attack combinations.

The Dawntrail expansion hinted at a new character class, and now Final Fantasy 14’s official website has revealed details about its arrival in a future update. A brand-new job will be added in a patch released after the expansion launches.

The next major update for Final Fantasy 14, called Trails to the Heavens, arrives on April 28, 2026. This update will introduce the highly anticipated Beastmaster job, which allows players to capture monsters and use them in combat.

Similar to the Blue Mage, the Beastmaster class is designed more for players who enjoy tackling challenges on their own. You progress by defeating monsters and adding them to your team – you can have up to three summoned monsters fighting alongside you, each with its own special skills.

Okay, so like the Blue Mage, the Beastmaster is really designed for playing by yourself. It’s not really built for group content, it shines when you’re going it alone.

The Beastmaster job first appeared in Final Fantasy 5, making it appropriate that a boss from that game—specifically, its updated version—is coming to Trails to the Heavens. Enuo, a challenging optional boss from Final Fantasy 5 Advance, will be featured as a Trial boss called The Unmaking in Final Fantasy 14.

While several jobs in Final Fantasy 14 allow players to summon creatures, the new Beastmaster job is unique – it lets you command monsters you’ve already encountered. Players can try out this exciting new career path when the ‘Trails to the Heavens’ expansion releases on April 28, 2026.
