Dragon Ball Super: 6 Strongest Destruction Technique Users, Ranked

The Power of Destruction is an incredibly strong ability in Dragon Ball Super. Those who wield it can use techniques like Hakai, which completely erase opponents from existence. In Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, if Goku hadn’t impressed Beerus, the God of Destruction, the entire Earth would have been destroyed.

Gods of Destruction primarily use destruction as their power, but through intense training or even a wish from the Dragon Balls, mortals can also learn these destructive abilities. While only a handful of characters in the Dragon Ball universe can actually perform destruction techniques, this ability instantly makes them among the strongest fighters in all of existence.

6. Toppo is a God of Destruction in All But Title

Toppo leads the Pride Troopers and is training to become a God of Destruction. He’s expected to take over Universe 11’s role when the current God, Belmod, steps down or passes away. During the Tournament of Power, Toppo proved incredibly powerful, even defeating Goku in an exhibition match. He nearly eliminated Vegeta as well, but Vegeta was able to reach a new level of power – Super Saiyan Blue Evolved – and survive.

Toppo’s Destroyer Form dramatically increases his strength, combining his divine energy with destructive force. He’s highly skilled in the art of Destruction, and can use Hakai to injure opponents without completely obliterating them – a testament to his incredible control. In a serious battle, he likely could have defeated Vegeta with just his Hakai, but the rules of the Tournament of Power prevented him from going all out.

5. Granolah Learned Hakai When He Became Strongest in the Universe

Granolah wished on the Cerealian Dragon Balls to become the strongest being in Universe 7, but this came at a cost: most of his remaining life. By the end of his story arc, he only had three years left to live, despite being incredibly powerful. Soon after gaining his new abilities, Granolah began using a dangerous technique called Destruction without fully grasping how it worked.

Granolah is physically more powerful, but his Hakai ability isn’t as strong as Toppo’s because he doesn’t fully understand how to use destructive energy. Toppo specifically trained to become a Destroyer, while Granolah just wished for greater strength. By the end of the story, though, Granolah learns to control the ability, eventually using Destruction as effectively as Beerus, instantly obliterating anything he targets.

4. Gas Can Do Everything Granolah Can Do – But Better

Granolah doesn’t hold the title of Universe 7’s strongest for very long. When Elec finds out Granolah wished for more power using the Dragon Balls, he travels to Cereal and summons Toronbo. He wishes for his brother, Gas, to become the strongest warrior in the universe. However, Gas’s wish works differently than Granolah’s. Instead of sacrificing years for initial power, Gas ages up in real-time whenever someone becomes stronger than him, effectively trading his remaining lifespan to match his opponents.

Gas possesses all of Granolah’s abilities, and the Dragon Balls enhance his power even further – to a greater degree than they do for Granolah. While Gas doesn’t master the technique of Destruction as skillfully as Granolah, his natural power level is significantly higher. Even a less refined version of his destructive energy can inflict considerable damage. Had Gas been more willing to fully utilize his abilities and rely on his own strength, he could have potentially defeated Granolah, Goku, and Vegeta.

3. Goku Almost Erased Fused Zamasu With an Improvised Hakai

Goku isn’t as fast as a Destroyer, especially considering he spends most of his time in Dragon Ball Super perfecting Ultra Instinct, a technique used by angels. However, Goku is a remarkably quick learner and can copy a technique after seeing it just once. We see this in the Dragon Ball Super manga’s Goku Black Saga, where Goku uses Hakai against Fused Zamasu. Even though he never received any training in Destruction techniques, he manages to erase half of Zamasu’s body with it.

Goku was about to destroy Zamasu immediately, but Zamasu grabbed Mai and held her hostage, forcing Goku to hold back. Although Beerus later told Goku that even the Hakai technique wouldn’t work on an immortal being, Zamasu was visibly damaged by it. Goku isn’t interested in becoming a God of Destruction and doesn’t want to use destructive powers, making it unlikely he’ll use the Hakai again, especially as he continues to improve his Ultra Instinct ability.

2. Vegeta is Slowly Mastering The Art of Destruction By Training With Beerus

Vegeta is poised for a powerful future. With the upcoming Dragon Ball Super remake planned for Fall, and its connection to Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, he’s entering a new era. He’s already proven stronger than Goku in a legitimate battle, as shown in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and now Beerus is personally training him. This training, beginning in the Granolah the Survivor Saga, focuses on Vegeta learning the powerful technique of Destruction.

Beerus acknowledges Vegeta’s progress by gifting him an earring signifying his potential as a God of Destruction. During his battle with Granolah, Vegeta unlocks a new transformation called Ultra Ego by focusing all his destructive energy. Ultra Ego makes Vegeta the most skilled mortal in the Dragon Ball universe when it comes to harnessing the power of Destruction. Unlike simply erasing opponents with Hakai, Vegeta prefers to use Destruction to weaken them, creating opportunities to inflict his own unique and powerful attacks.

1. Beerus & The Gods of Destruction Are the Ultimate Users of Destruction

Beerus is the most skilled Destroyer in Dragon Ball Super. While all Gods of Destruction can use the Hakai technique, Beerus elevates it to an incredible level of artistry. He has complete mastery over his power, which was first demonstrated in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods when he effortlessly destroyed a portion of Earth without harming the planet as a whole.

Beerus is powerful enough to defeat any opponent, including Black Frieza. He always has to restrain himself when sparring with Goku and Vegeta, but they’re gradually becoming stronger. Beerus is incredibly skilled with the Hakai technique – he can even demonstrate it on Vegeta, destroying only his armor instead of him completely.
