Windrose immediately puts you in the thick of things with challenging quests and dangerous enemies. While completing quests is how you gain experience, some of them can be incredibly difficult to solve without a little help.
Early in the game, you’ll encounter the quest “15 Men on a Dead Man’s Chest,” which requires you to locate a Pirate’s Chest. Many players find this quest confusing and think the game is broken because they can’t find it, but it’s not a bug! We have a solution to help you out.
How to Get Pirate’s Chest in Windrose
Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest
Once you start this quest, a location will be highlighted on your map, leading you to believe the Pirate’s Chest is nearby. However, when you go there, you won’t find anything – and that’s where many players get stuck.
The treasure chest is located right there, but it’s buried. You’ll need a shovel to dig it up.
If you haven’t already, you can make a shovel at the workbench. However, you’ll need to gather three Copper Ingots first to unlock the crafting recipe.
How to Craft the Shovel in Windrose
To get Copper Ingots, you’ll first need to gather Copper. You can find Copper deposits in caves, which are marked on the map with a pickaxe icon, making them easy to locate.
Once you’ve collected enough Copper, you can create three ingots by smelting 12 Copper in a furnace. You’ll also need one Charcoal to power the furnace, and you can make Charcoal by placing wood into a Charcoal Kiln.
Getting wood is simple. Just use an axe to chop down a few trees – you’ll gather plenty quickly. You’ll need a total of 11 pieces of wood for everything.
Here’s a look at the shovel recipe:
- 3x Copper Ingots
- 10x Wood
With your shovel prepared, return to the location marked on your map and begin digging. You’ll soon uncover the Pirate’s Chest.
Watch out! As soon as you open the Pirate’s Chest, enemies called Drowned will appear and attack, so make sure you’re ready to battle!
Now that you’ve defeated the Drowned, you can go back and open the chest to finish the “15 Men on a Dead Man’s Chest” quest. Windrose players will receive five Guineas and four Silver Ingots as a reward.
