How to Defeat Israel Hands in Windrose

Windrose features an extensive main story that sends you on a journey across the game world. Throughout this story, you’ll face several challenging bosses, starting with Thomas Richards.

Once you get to the “Needle in the Haystack” quest in the game, you’ll need to find and defeat Israel Hands. Be warned: this boss fight is significantly harder than the previous one.

Here’s a guide to help you easily defeat Israel Hands in Windrose.

Preparing for the Israel Hands Boss Battle

Israel Hands is a tougher opponent than you’ve faced so far, presenting a good challenge after the first boss. Fortunately, the strategies you used to beat the first boss can also be helpful in this fight.

It’s best to always have two different cooked foods active for their benefits. By now, you should have a farm established and be able to cook food. Don’t just eat basic things like bananas – focus on getting the most out of the food buff system by using two varied cooked dishes.

It’s a good idea to eat food that boosts your stats. If you favor fast weapons, choose food that increases your agility. No matter what, these foods will improve your health, which is especially helpful when fighting bosses.

Okay, so before I head into this fight, I’m making sure my gear is top-notch. I’ve been leveling up my weapons and armor, and I’ve finally hit level 10 on most of it. I’m also definitely ascending my jewelry and weapons – that boost is a game-changer, and I wouldn’t want to go in without it!

Some recommended weapons and armor for this fight are:

  • Rapier of a Thousand Cuts: Dealing damage causes the enemy to bleed, dealing damage over time. Heals temporal health when ascended.
  • Dueling Greatsword: Successful parries grant you retaliation, increases your damage by up to 30%.
  • Sturdy Mace: Increases your posture points by 1.
  • Sturdy Rapier: Increases the perfect block timing window.
  • Conquistador’s Armor Set: Two pieces increase your damage resistance.
  • Pikeman’s Armor Set: Two pieces increase your max health by 160.

As I’m building my character, I always make sure to equip jewelry that boosts my strengths. Like, if I’m going with a rapier build, I’ll definitely look for something that increases my piercing damage – it just makes sense to stack those bonuses!

Okay, so trust me on this – you need to bring a ton of potions! They stack up to 10 at a time, and honestly, one full stack should be more than enough healing for the battle. If you really want to maximize your damage, I’d also recommend bringing some Elixirs of Cruelty. They give you a nice boost!

Israel Hands Attacks

Israel Hands is a challenging boss with a variety of attacks. Some attacks can’t be blocked, so you’ll need to dodge them. Be prepared for both close-range and long-range attacks and stay vigilant throughout the fight.

Attack Description Best Method to Handle it
Ethereal Stab Hands’ spirit protrudes from his body holding a halberd, he then rushes forward, leaving a trail of ethereal essence in his wake. This attack may also launch ethereal skulls at you. Dodge to the left or right as Hands approaches you. Dodge additional times to avoid the skulls if they spawn.
Ethereal Skull Barrage Hands launches several ethereal skulls at you. During this attack, Hands will lift into the air, launching a least three skulls upward. These will fly at you. Spring to the side to avoid the skulls and dodge when necessary until they are all gone.
Sword Combo Hands will use a sword combo where he swings twice horizontally and then once vertically. Hands will sometimes attack using a second combo shortly after. Time the attacks and block.
Ethereal Bullet Hands’ spirit will lift out of his body and shoot a bullet. Dodge or sprint to the side.
Ethereal Explosion Hands will lift into the air and slam the ground, causing a large AOE two lines on the ground. Stay out of the glowing area.
Ethereal Spin Hands’ spirit will lift while holding a sword before performing an AOE spin around Hands. Back away or dodge back from Hands before the attack.

Israel Hands Strategy

Israel Hands is a faster opponent than the previous boss, so you’ll need to be quicker with your reactions. When the fight begins, rush in and attack him while he’s still getting to his feet – this will let you deal some early damage.

Be ready for Hands to strike back. He’ll probably use his sword combo, so make sure you block. He also frequently spins with his sword – if he does, step back to avoid it and then counterattack.

Aim for the Hands only two or three times, since there’s a limited opening to strike. If you’re using a two-handed weapon, one or two hits should be enough.

Hands is a more unpredictable opponent than the last boss, making it harder to anticipate his attacks. Stay alert, and be ready to react if he takes to the air – he’ll either launch skulls at you or charge forward. You can avoid both of these attacks by sprinting or dodging.

When fighting Hands, he usually attacks with a three-hit combo, so time your blocks carefully to interrupt his attacks.

He usually attacks with quick, two-hit sequences. If you can block effectively, you can interrupt his attacks and leave him vulnerable, giving you a chance to counterattack.

Although you can use guns in this fight, they aren’t very useful against Hands because he usually dodges the bullets. You might hit him sometimes, but most shots will miss, so it’s best to be very precise with your aiming or save your ammunition.

You can also get a boar companion before facing this boss. While it doesn’t last long in the fight, it’s helpful for drawing the boss’s attention, giving you a chance to heal or take a breather.
