Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was one of 2025’s best games. I don’t think anyone is doubting that.
As we said in our review, this game is a truly original RPG – it takes all the best parts of the first game and improves on them significantly.
Warhorse Studios quickly gained recognition as a top RPG developer thanks to the success of their game and built a dedicated fanbase. However, that positive momentum reportedly suffered earlier this year when the studio replaced a human translator with artificial intelligence.
The studio didn’t directly address the news, instead putting out a statement:
Look, as a gamer, I know how much passion goes into making these games, and Warhorse Studios is full of incredibly talented people. They really care about their team, both past and present. Because of that, they’ve made it clear they won’t be discussing private issues or getting into details about individual situations publicly – and honestly, I respect that. Everyone deserves their privacy.
Predictably, the reaction from hardcore gamers who oppose AI was very negative. As evidence, the upcoming Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session with Warhorse Studios is being flooded with questions about how they’re using AI.
Gamers Are Pissed About Warhorse Studios’ Reported AI Usage

Many of the frequently asked questions are playful or humorous, like the one about working as a studio translator. But some questions get straight to the point without hesitation.
I’m a big fan of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and really appreciate all the work you’ve done! I’m excited to see what you create in the future. As an English speaker, I’ve found the writing and dialogue to be excellent, and it’s given me a much greater understanding and appreciation for Czech history and culture.
Could you explain the decision to let go of the employee who was so important in translating the game for English-speaking audiences? Also, can you share more about your plans to use AI in the future?
Could you share your studio’s stance on using generative AI for translation services? Are there plans to expand its use to other languages as well?
It’s not all about AI, though. I saw one question that really hit home – someone was asking why the German voice acting doesn’t use native speakers. They said it totally pulls them out of the game, and honestly, I get that. It’s a legit point!

So, there’s been a lot of talk about whether the team is working on an open-world Lord of the Rings game, and apparently it might be funded by Saudi Arabia. We actually wrote about this a while back, last month to be exact.
Daniel Vavra, who helped found Warhorse Studios, admits he doesn’t love AI-created art, but recognizes it’s a technology that’s not going away. He’s curious to see how things develop when the team begins addressing questions from the public tomorrow.
