Reflection is widely considered the most devastating in battle, offering a simple yet remarkably effective way to instantly defeat even the strongest opponents, like Kage or members of the Otsutsuki clan.

Reflection is widely considered an incredibly powerful ability in the Naruto and Boruto universes, leading many fans to think it’s unstoppable. While it’s exceptionally strong, every technique has a flaw and can be overcome. There’s at least one visual jutsu that appears capable of countering Daemon’s Reflection due to its strength and adaptability.

Daemon’s Reflection Is Arguably The Most Broken Ability In The Franchise

Abilities like Amaterasu, Reanimation Jutsu, Susanoo, and Almighty Push are often considered incredibly strong, but Daemon’s Reflection is even more devastating. Many believe it’s the most powerful ability in the entire Naruto series. Reflection instantly sends any attack, and even the attacker’s intention to attack, right back at them. For example, if Sasuke tried to strike Daemon with a Chidori, Sasuke himself would be injured. Similarly, if a powerful character like Killer B attempted to launch a Tailed Beast Ball, he would destroy himself before he could even finish charging it.

Boruto is among the few new ninja strong enough to fight an Otsutsuki, but even he would lose to Daemon while Daemon’s ability, Reflection, is active. However, Reflection isn’t without weaknesses. It can only be used when Daemon is touching someone else. Luckily, the power of Reflection also applies to whoever Daemon is touching. The strength of the reflected attack isn’t fixed; it depends on how much the attacker wants to harm Daemon. So, a gentle tap would only result in a gentle tap in return, while a serious attack would be fully reflected with equal force.

Additionally, powerful genjutsu can put so much stress on the target’s mind and body that it could be considered harmful. However, there’s one specific genjutsu that can overcome Reflection’s defenses.

Shisui’s Mangekyo Sharingan Produces A Genjutsu Of The Highest Caliber

Kotoamatsukami is a powerful illusion technique only accessible to those who have awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan. It was instrumental in making Shisui Uchiha one of the most skilled illusion users. Itachi Uchiha, a master of illusions himself, described Kotoamatsukami as an exceptionally advanced technique. It’s so discreet that even the Five Kage couldn’t detect Danzo using it during their summit to influence Mifune into supporting his bid to lead the Allied Shinobi Forces. It was only discovered because Ao, using his stolen Byakugan, recognized Shisui’s unique chakra. Later, a reanimated Itachi used Kotoamatsukami to break free from Kabuto’s control during the Fourth Great Ninja War, and Shisui intended to prevent the Uchiha clan’s planned takeover by using it on their leaders.

Kotoamatsukami lets the user secretly enter someone’s mind if they can see them. Once inside, the user can create illusions and make the target believe their own thoughts and decisions are genuine—it’s a subtle form of mind control. Those with Hashirama Senju’s cells—the legendary Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village—can use it daily. Otherwise, it can only be used about once every ten years.

Kotoamatsukami Vs. Reflection Would Be Very One-Sided

Since Daemon couldn’t sense Kotoamatsukami, he wouldn’t need to activate his Reflection ability. However, Kotoamatsukami would likely still work even if Reflection was active. Reflection seems to rely on an opponent’s hostile intent, meaning someone like Shisui could bypass it by using Kotoamatsukami without wanting to cause harm. Kotoamatsukami is considered one of the most powerful techniques in Naruto because it makes the target harm themselves, which would normally trigger Reflection. Luckily, past uses of Kotoamatsukami show the user can guide the target in a way that avoids lethal outcomes.

When Kotoamatsukami is used, the user can easily stop Daemon from using his powers after he releases anyone he’s holding. They could even tell him to travel the ninja world and sample ramen from every village. Essentially, as long as the user doesn’t intend to harm Daemon, they can control him and prevent him from activating Reflection while they’re near each other.

Kotoamatsukami might have a dangerous ability: it could force anyone Daemon is touching to attack him. This wouldn’t be a direct attack from the person using Kotoamatsukami, but rather an order compelling the target to act. If successful, this could lead to Reflection – which requires a touch – being used to kill its own source, leaving Daemon vulnerable to a finishing blow since he’d need to touch someone else to use Reflection again.

Reflection is a powerful and dangerous technique from the Naruto series, capable of inflicting fatal or severe damage. It can deflect any physical attack, provided certain conditions are met, though a powerful illusion like Kotoamatsukami might be able to bypass its defenses. To do so, the user of Kotoamatsukami would need prior knowledge of how Reflection functions, which is the main challenge. While targeting someone Daemon is in contact with could work, the most effective way to overcome Reflection would be through subtle, mind-altering manipulation rather than direct force.
