Devil Fruits are the main source of power in the One Piece series, and were first introduced by the series creator, Eiichiro Oda. There are three kinds of Devil Fruits: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia.
Devil Fruits grant incredible powers, so it’s not surprising that most of the strongest characters in One Piece, including powerful pirates, have them. Many pirates possess Devil Fruit abilities, but only a rare few are strong enough to become true leaders and reach the very top.
9. Hie Hie no Mi

- Type: Logia
Kuzan, a former Marine Admiral, possesses the Hie Hie no Mi, a remarkably powerful Devil Fruit. After being defeated by Akainu, he joined the Blackbeard Pirates and currently serves as one of their ten ship captains. His Devil Fruit is considered one of the strongest of its type.
Kuzan’s Hie Hie no Mi ability lets him transform into ice and control ice at will during battles. He can quickly freeze vast areas, like the ocean, or completely encase an opponent in ice, rendering them unable to fight. His power is incredibly strong, and few in the One Piece world can effectively oppose it.
8. Soru Soru no Mi

- Type: Paramecia
The Soru Soru no Mi is a remarkably strong Devil Fruit used by Yonko Big Mom. As a Paramecia-type fruit, it gives her control over people’s souls. Specifically, she can extract the souls of anyone who feels even a little fear towards her or shows any hesitation in her presence.
I’ve seen her do some incredible things with souls. She can use them to make herself stronger, or even bring objects – living or not – to life, creating powerful allies. It’s not just physical things either; she can actually give life to elements like fire and control them in battle. All of this stems from her Devil Fruit, the Soru Soru no Mi, and it’s made her a truly fearsome figure, someone people all over the world avoid if possible.
7. Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu
- User: Kaido
- Type: Mythical Zoan
I’m absolutely fascinated by the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu! It’s a seriously powerful Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit that Kaido ate almost four decades ago during the events at God Valley. What’s incredible is that it lets you transform into a massive, unbelievably durable Eastern Blue Dragon! It’s just an amazing ability to think about.
This fruit’s scales are virtually impenetrable, able to withstand any attack unless it’s enhanced with the special ‘Color of the Supreme King.’ Beyond its incredible defense, the fruit gives Kaido immense power, letting him control wind, lightning, and fire. He can even transform into a scorching, magma-like dragon capable of destroying entire islands.
6. Mero Mero no Mi
- User: Boa Hancock
- Type: Paramecia
The Mero Mero no Mi is a Devil Fruit that gives its user the ability to turn people to stone. Boa Hancock ate this fruit while she was enslaved in Marijoa.
This Devil Fruit has a terrifying power: anyone instantly turned to stone by it. Beyond that, Boa Hancock, the user, can also petrify objects and people who aren’t attracted to her, simply by touching them. It’s so strong that even Blackbeard, a powerful pirate emperor, tried to avoid her, realizing he’d be instantly defeated if she noticed him.
5. Ope Ope no Mi
- User: Trafalgar Law
- Type: Paramecia
The Ope Ope no Mi is considered an incredibly strong Devil Fruit, used by the pirate Trafalgar Law, originally from the North Blue. It gives Law the power to create large spaces, called ROOMs, where he has complete control over everything inside. Anyone caught within his ROOM is essentially at his mercy, like a patient under his care.
Law can freely operate on people, performing surgeries that range from amputations to delivering strong electrical shocks using his abilities, such as Counter-Shock. When he fully masters his Devil Fruit powers, he gains even more powerful attacks, like phasing techniques called Shock Wille and Puncture Wille.
4. Gura Gura no Mi
- User: Whitebeard
- Type: Paramecia
Currently, the Gura Gura no Mi is considered the most powerful Paramecia-type Devil Fruit revealed by Eichiro Oda. It grants the user the ability to create devastating earthquakes across land, sea, and air, essentially turning them into a ‘vibration human’.
These earthquakes are incredibly powerful, capable of instantly submerging islands and even causing global destruction. This ability made Whitebeard one of the most formidable characters in One Piece, and now, Blackbeard possesses it.

Okay, so I’m totally fascinated by this Devil Fruit – the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr! It’s a Mythical Zoan, and get this – it was hidden away on Elbaph for centuries! Then, about 14 years ago, Loki finally came along and ate it. What it does is incredible: it lets you transform into this massive black dragon, and the bigger you are, the bigger the dragon gets! It’s an awesome connection between the user and their transformed state.
Nidhoggr allows its user to control huge amounts of lightning. It also dramatically increases their strength and toughness, making it an incredibly powerful ability.
2. Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika

- Type: Mythical Zoan
Monkey D. Luffy possesses the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, a powerful Devil Fruit he consumed twelve years ago. He’s now fully capable of utilizing its abilities, which go far beyond simply granting a rubber body. Specifically, during the Wano Country Arc, the fruit awakened, allowing Luffy to essentially manifest his imagination into reality.
The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika is arguably the most unusual Devil Fruit power in the world of One Piece, and we’ll likely learn more about what it can do as the story unfolds.

The Yami Yami no Mi is an incredibly strong Devil Fruit used by the powerful Yonko Blackbeard. It’s known as the most sinister Devil Fruit, and its ability is to cancel out the powers of any other Devil Fruit – even the fruits themselves.
The Yami Yami no Mi has an incredible ability to absorb almost anything – including elements like fire and water, the environment around it, and even light. This makes it widely considered the most powerful Devil Fruit in the One Piece world.
