As of now, the Switch 2 doesn’t have a lot of big game releases lined up for 2026. The biggest exclusive title so far is Pokemon Pokopia, though we’ve also seen some good ports, including Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park.
With May just around the corner, many gamers are curious about what new titles are on the way. Nintendo’s main exclusive release for May is Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Beyond that, what other games are scheduled to come out, and could strong sales suggest a bright future for the Switch 2? Let’s take a look at the full release schedule.

Mixtape
A Coming Of Age Tale
Switch 2 will launch with the game Mixtape on the 7th. It’s a relaxed, indie title available on multiple platforms, perfect for kicking off the spring and summer season. Set in the 1990s, Mixtape follows a group of teenagers as they navigate life, from celebrating holidays with fireworks to skateboarding and getting into playful trouble.
Music is a key element of the game, with both original songs and popular tracks from the 90s – everything from Smashing Pumpkins to Joy Division. If you grew up in the 90s or enjoy games with great soundtracks, you should definitely check out Mixtape.
Indiana Jones And The Great Circle
Indy Is Back For Another Adventure
Originally released on Xbox in 2024, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle became available on PlayStation in 2025. The game features an original story that’s as exciting as the Indiana Jones films, letting players explore ancient ruins, fight enemies, swing across chasms, and experience a lot more action.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners will finally be able to play a fantastic Indiana Jones game. Bethesda, known for bringing The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim to the Switch, is now releasing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. How well this game performs could influence what other titles Bethesda decides to bring to the Switch 2. It launches on the system on the 12th.
Outbound
A Meta Travel Experience
Outbound is an upcoming indie game that offers a unique experience, especially timed with the start of summer road trip season. Launching shortly after Memorial Day, the game lets players drive a camper van through scenic landscapes and enjoy peaceful camping stops along the way.
This camping game is quite detailed. Players can fully customize the inside of their van, designing everything from furniture to kitchen setups. It releases on the 14th, making it a fun option for passengers on road trips, especially for Memorial Day. Even if you’re not traveling, Outbound is sure to inspire your next adventure.
Yoshi And The Mysterious Book
A Pop-Up Book For All Ages
When it comes to exclusive games on the Switch in May, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is set to be one of the biggest releases. It’s been a while since the last major Yoshi game – Yoshi’s Crafted World came out on the Switch in 2019. This new game lets players explore a mysterious book, playing as Yoshi and using familiar moves. You can run, swallow enemies, turn them into eggs, and use those eggs as projectiles, plus enjoy Yoshi’s signature flutter jump.
The game lets you collect friends and foes and place them in levels to trigger special events – for example, you can use a flower to make a beanstalk grow. It’s likely to be easier to play than other Yoshi games, but it has a beautiful, handcrafted look, almost like a stop-motion animation made with crayons. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book comes out on the 21st.
Bubsy 4D
Bubsy’s Back, Back Again
The original Bubsy game, titled Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993. While the series had a short period of popularity in the 90s, it’s now often criticized. Attempts to revive it with new games in 2017 and 2019, fueled by nostalgia, weren’t successful.
Let’s be realistic: a good Bubsy 4D game launching on the 22nd is unlikely. However, a demo is currently available on the Switch 2, and it’s surprisingly enjoyable. The demo appears to be self-aware and playfully mocks the Bubsy character and series, which could make for a fun and decent platformer if the humor lands. Having both Bubsy 4D and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book on the Switch 2 could actually be a good thing for platformer fans.
Tales Of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition
Another High Quality Action RPG Port
The newly released Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition is a special version of the game created just for the Switch 2, launching on the 22nd along with Bubsy 4D. Originally appearing on other consoles in 2021, it’s the newest installment in the popular Tales of series. While Tales of Berseria Remastered came out in February and is a good game, Tales of Arise is considered a significant improvement.
The game looked fantastic on consoles like the PlayStation 5, with appealing characters, vibrant colors, and fast-paced battles. Square Enix already showed they could bring an action RPG to the Switch 2 with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade in early 2026. Now, the question is whether Bandai Namco can do the same with Tales of Arise, and if so, will they release other popular titles on the Switch 2 as well? Hopefully, the answer is yes to both.
Stray
A Furry Adventure
After first appearing in 2022, primarily on the PS5, the game Stray will be released at the end of the month. You play as a lost cat who explores a futuristic, rundown city populated by robots. During their journey, the cat befriends a small robot, and together they solve puzzles and overcome obstacles.
Cat game fans really enjoyed it, and it was a welcome addition to the Switch in 2024, though the graphics weren’t as good. Hopefully, the version for the new Switch 2 will look more like the PS5 version and include some unique content for both returning and new players.
R-Type Dimensions 3
An Old-School Shooter Returns
While there’s no confirmed release date, R-Type Dimensions 3 is expected sometime in May and is already listed on digital storefronts. It could come out unexpectedly on May 1st, at the very end of the month on the 31st, or any time in between – or it might even be delayed past May. Regardless, fans of classic side-scrolling shoot ‘em ups will be excited to see R-Type back in action.
This game series started in arcades back in 1987, giving it a long and respected history. The gameplay is classic shoot ’em up – you pilot a ship, collect power-ups, battle challenging bosses, and keep playing. It’s perfect for playing on the go. Hopefully, this updated version of some beloved games will be enjoyable for both longtime fans and newcomers.
