The following contains minor spoilers for the Chainsaw Man manga.
Now that the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has finished, fans are looking forward to what’s next for the Chainsaw Man series. While the Reze Arc featured compelling characters and surprising twists, the upcoming International Assassins Arc is considered by many to be one of the best story arcs in the entire Chainsaw Man franchise, including both the manga and anime.
The latest installment of Chainsaw Man introduces a whole new set of characters – heroes, villains, and everything in between. Considering how often characters die or leave the series, with Akane, Himeno, and even Reze recently gone (though Reze’s fate is uncertain), it’s good to see some fresh blood. These new additions are sure to shake things up for Denji, Power, and Aki, throwing them into a world of chaos and danger.
Santa Claus Will Dominate the Story With Her Many Devil Contracts
Santa Claus Has High Standards For Her Devilish Dealings
Fans of Chainsaw Man have already witnessed characters making deals with incredibly powerful devils to gain new abilities. For example, Aki Hayakawa has pacts with the Fox and Future Devils, and Himeno previously used the power of the Ghost Devil. However, these deals will seem small compared to the impact of Santa Claus, a new character who will be central to the next anime arc and deals in exceptionally strong devils.
From the moment he’s introduced, Santa Claus is revealed to have made deals with incredibly powerful devils, starting with the Doll Devil, and more sinister contracts will follow. Fans of Chainsaw Man who were disturbed by the Zombie Devil or Ghost Devil should prepare themselves for something far worse, as Santa Claus will become a truly terrifying being thanks to these devilish agreements. It will require all of Denji’s ingenuity and fighting skills to stand a chance against such a formidable foe.
Hirofumi Yoshida’s Presence Will Become a Fact of Life For Denji
The Second Arc Will See Even More of Hirofumi
As the story of Chainsaw Man continues in the manga, Hirofumi Yoshida will become a more important character, especially as Asa Mitaka’s role grows. Anime viewers will first meet Hirofumi during the International Assassins Arc when the anime returns, and he’s a refreshing character – one of the ‘good guys’ in a world full of danger.
Hirofumi is a highly skilled devil hunter and a capable bodyguard, making him a valuable ally. With international assassins and powerful devils targeting Denji, he’ll need all the help he can get from people like Hirofumi. Plus, anime fans will likely enjoy Hirofumi’s unique personality – he’s both funny and incredibly dangerous.
Tolka Will Rise as One of Denji’s Many Enemies in This New Arc
Tolka is There to Support Santa Claus no Matter What
Even though Tolka won’t be a major villain in the next part of the Chainsaw Man anime, viewers shouldn’t underestimate him. He’ll appear as an assistant to Santa Claus, which represents a change in how villains operate in the series. Previously, most enemies fought on their own, like the Bat Devil and the Eternity Devil, but Reze began a trend of villains working with others, and Tolka will continue that pattern. Expect to see more Chainsaw Man antagonists with their own helpers going forward.
In the next part of the story, the International Assassins Arc, Tolka will appear as a devil hunter originally from the Soviet Union. She’s a complex character – a ruthless killer who also has a surprisingly gentle side. She doesn’t hesitate to kill, whether it’s an animal or a person, but she’s particularly fond of Santa Claus and wants her to be able to retire comfortably. Tolka’s unusual design is likely to be jarring for many viewers of Chainsaw Man, as it’s intentionally meant to be unsettling.
Kusakabe Takes His Duty For Denji Seriously
Denji Thinks Kusakabe is a Total Drag
Fans of Chainsaw Man have watched Aki Hayakawa struggle to control Denji and Power’s wild behavior, acting as a serious contrast to Denji’s chaotic personality. Now, a new character named Kusakabe will try to rein in Denji’s unpredictable actions, and some viewers might be reminded of Yamato from Naruto. Kusakabe is a strong and disciplined teammate who doesn’t like Denji’s haphazard approach to fighting.

High Score: 0 —
Fans of Chainsaw Man are in for a thrilling ride as the story pits strict discipline and courtesy against utter mayhem and childish antics – a dynamic that manga readers already know and love. Similar to Hirofumi, Kusakabe is tasked with protecting Denji when danger strikes, and he’s completely dedicated to that mission, even if Denji doesn’t appreciate his efforts.
The Hell Devil is the Reason Power’s Courage Collapsed
Hell Horrifies Even Fiends like Power
Denji may feel like he’s faced some truly terrifying devils, but he’s in for a shock. The devils in Chainsaw Man are becoming increasingly powerful and frightening as the story progresses, and the incredibly strong Hell Devil is expected to appear in the anime soon. Surprisingly, despite being so powerful, this devil will only play a secondary role in the upcoming story arc.
Despite this, the Hell Devil is still a serious threat. At Santa Claus’s urging, it plans to send Denji and his friends to Hell, a terrifying place that will deeply shake their confidence, especially Power’s. The Hell Devil isn’t worried about Denji or Power, whether it’s in its hand-like or centaur form, but they’re sure to be frightened by the experience.
Quanxi Rivals Kishibe as an Elite Fighter in Chainsaw Man
Quanxi Has a Harem to Back Her Up
I’ve noticed Quanxi is a really different character compared to some of the more wild berserkers like Denji and Power. She’s a cool, collected assassin, originally from China. She usually travels with a group of four women who are very close to her – you could almost call it an unusual, tight-knit group. Their connection is strong, built on a shared history and a sort of love, though Quanxi definitely isn’t the type to get flustered or act shy.
During the International Assassins Arc, Quanxi will be a ruthless and focused killer, and Denji needs to be wary of her. She’s as powerful and skilled as Kishibe, which is high praise, and her fiend allies give her even more strategic options. Luckily, those familiar with the manga know Quanxi isn’t simply a villain; she operates independently, pursuing her own goals.
The Darkness Devil is One of the First Primal Fears Ever Seen
Denji Doesn’t Stand a Chance Against the Lord of Darkness
Fans of the Chainsaw Man manga have encountered many powerful devils, but the Darkness Devil is among the most terrifying. This devil is unlike anything Denji, Power, or Quanxi have faced before – a truly nightmarish being. It doesn’t communicate through speech, but its presence is incredibly imposing, and it’s willing to make deals with those who dare to ask.
Despite being incredibly powerful and seemingly invincible, the Darkness Devil isn’t interested in direct conflict, and Denji won’t be forced into a deadly battle with it. Instead, Denji and Power have to deal with the dangers of Hell while the Darkness Devil strikes a deal with Santa Claus. This makes the Darkness Devil the most threatening supporting character in the series. Plus, anime viewers are sure to be captivated by its sinister and unique appearance.
