Halo 2 and 3 Remakes Leaked

As a huge Halo fan, I’m so excited to hear that 343 Industries is apparently working on remaking Halo 2 and 3! The reliable leaker, Rebs Gaming, just dropped the news. It’s not a huge surprise, honestly – ever since the announcement of the Combat Evolved remake coming in late 2025, people (and other insiders) started predicting this would happen. It’s great to see those rumors turning into what looks like a real plan!

Since the release of Halo: Infinite, there’s been a lot of speculation about the future of the Halo franchise, now developed by Halo Studios (previously 343 Industries). Following the initial success and later decline of Infinite, rumors surfaced about several projects, including a separate multiplayer game with ongoing updates, remakes of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3, and a brand new Halo game. Reliable sources like Rebs Gaming and Halo Leaks on Twitter supported these rumors. So far, the only confirmed project is Halo: Campaign Evolved, a complete remake of the original Halo game built in Unreal Engine 5. This remake will feature new missions, improvements, and gameplay changes, including the addition of sprinting. Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled for release in July 2026, but the plans for the multiplayer game and the next main Halo title remain uncertain.

Remakes of Halo 2 and 3 Are Rumored to Be in Active Development

After previously revealing plans for a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, Rebs Gaming is now confirming that remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 are officially in development. Rebs shared this information on YouTube, stating multiple sources have verified the projects are moving forward. One new, verified source specifically mentioned these remakes are in early stages, while a previous source—who initially confirmed the Combat Evolved remake—has now confirmed these two as well. While details about the changes and improvements in the Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are still unknown, past reports suggest they will likely be rebuilt using the same Unreal Engine 5 technology as Halo: Combat Evolved.

The possibility of remaking Halo 2 and Halo 3 has sparked a varied response from fans online. While some believe that Halo Studios should concentrate on creating new games instead of revisiting older titles – especially considering the high quality of Halo 2: Anniversary – others feel the original trilogy still looks and plays well today, and is already well-preserved in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. However, a significant number of fans are enthusiastic about the idea of remakes, and some even hope to see Halo: ODST and Reach also updated using Unreal Engine 5.

Following the launch of Halo: Infinite and changes at the studio now known as Halo Studios, the future of the Halo franchise was uncertain. But now, the series’ path is becoming more defined. It appears Halo is moving towards remakes and ongoing, live-service games, while the team also continues development on the next major Halo installment – at least, according to recent leaks. This is a shift from the past, where a big Halo game came out every few years, supplemented by smaller spin-off titles every couple of years, often made with outside help.

The Halo franchise has seen remasters of its first three games before, with updated versions of Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 released in 2011 and 2014. However, rumors of a remake of Halo 3 are particularly exciting. Halo 3 was a landmark title, becoming a cultural phenomenon before its 2007 launch and remaining beloved by fans. Many consider Halo 2 and Halo 3 to be the best in the series, and fans are understandably protective of them. Given how passionate Halo fans are, it will be interesting to see how Halo Studios updates these classic games for both longtime players and a new generation.
