Tekken 8 players won’t have to wait much longer for new content! Kunimitsu is coming later this month for those with early access. Bandai Namco just released a gameplay trailer showcasing the character‘s unique Manji Ninjutsu fighting style, including some brand new moves.
I’ve been really into Tekken 8 since it came out on January 26, 2024. Bandai Namco has been consistently updating it with big patches and adding tons of new content through DLC. They just finished up season 2 in December 2025, and it’s been awesome seeing both familiar faces like Eddy Gordo and new characters like Miary Zo join the roster. Of course, no Tekken game is complete without a guest character, and this time around we got Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI which was a cool surprise! At the Tekken World Finals 2025 in January, Bandai Namco announced they’re already working on a third season of DLC, so the fighting’s far from over!
Kunimitsu Returns to Tekken 8 Soon
- Kunimitsu launches in early access on May 27, 2026, for Tekken 8 season 3 pass holders
- The public release for Kunimistu is June 1, 2026
Bandai Namco has announced that Kunimitsu, a new character for Tekken 8, will be revealed at Evo Japan 2026. Players with early access will be able to play as her starting May 27, 2026, with a full release for everyone else on June 1, 2026. A three-minute trailer shows Kunimitsu returning as the second version of the character in the game’s story, bringing fresh moves with her. She’s known for her quickness and evasiveness, utilizing her signature Manji Ninjutsu fighting style, and now features a new fire-breathing attack. Her new Rage Art is particularly powerful, allowing her to instantly defeat opponents with a Kuji-do technique.
I’m so hyped for Season 3 of Tekken 8! Kunimitsu is just the first of four new characters they’re adding, which is awesome. The trailer showed us that Bob and Roger Jr. are coming this summer and fall, and they’ll reveal the fourth character at Combo Breaker on May 24th. But it’s not just characters – they’re also dropping 44 new cosmetics, a cool Aurora Outfit Pack, and even a brand new battle stage to keep us busy between launches. It’s going to be a packed season!
Kunimitsu has been a popular character in the Tekken series ever since she first appeared in the original game in 1994. Often called the Phantom Thief, she’s a member of the Manji Clan and was initially introduced as a rival to Michelle Chang. While she hasn’t played a major role in the main Tekken story since the second game, the character has been reimagined as the daughter of the original Kunimitsu, who now carries on the Phantom Thief legacy in Tekken 7 and is returning in Tekken 8.

Players are hyped about Kunimitsu’s return in Tekken 8, but many are worried about facing her because of her fast and slippery fighting style. Fans are also really impressed with her powerful Rage Art, unique cursed blade, and surprisingly relaxed personality. New characters in Tekken 8 often shake up the game’s balance, so players should be prepared for Kunimitsu when she’s released on May 27th – she looks like a tough opponent!
