The Phantom Troupe is a powerful group of villains in the anime and manga series Hunter x Hunter. They’re notorious thieves, each with a large bounty on their head, and all are skilled in the use of Nen. While most members are strong fighters, there’s a definite ranking system within the Troupe, meaning some are considerably more powerful than others.

The most powerful members of the Phantom Troupe are incredibly dangerous, able to quickly defeat many enemies – even strong ones like the Chimera Ants – with ease. Some excel as ruthless assassins, while others are masters of hand-to-hand combat. Although Hisoka is exceptionally strong, he’s stated he was never truly part of the group.

10. Shizuku Murasaki

Shizuku is the eighth member of the Phantom Troupe, but ranks twelfth in terms of raw physical strength. Despite this, she’s a highly skilled fighter capable of defeating powerful Nen users, such as the Shadow Beasts from the Mafia. Shizuku is considered one of the strongest Conjuration Nen users in Hunter x Hunter, and her Nen ability focuses on summoning a vacuum-based Nen Beast named Blinky.

Blinky has an incredible ability to absorb anything, living or not, which is incredibly useful for the Troupe to get rid of evidence. She’s also surprisingly powerful, able to defeat most guards and Nen users with just one hit from her nozzle. In combat, Machi uses her threads to manipulate opponents like puppets, but she’s also capable of quickly immobilizing or even suffocating multiple enemies simultaneously.

Bonolenov is the tenth member of the Phantom Troupe and the eighth strongest physically. He usually appears as a mummy-like figure wearing boxing gloves, which actually hide numerous holes all over his body. As a member of the Gyudondond Tribe, Bonolenov naturally has these holes, and he uses them to make music.

The Chimera Ant Arc is a standout in the world of Shonen anime, and it introduced Bonolenov, a unique fighter who moves like he’s dancing to the sounds created by the holes in his body. Seriously, from the moment he was born, he was put through brutal training, and it shows. He’s a master of so many advanced techniques, like creating afterimages to confuse opponents, and he can even change his body to grow claws! It’s incredible and a little scary, honestly.

Illumi is widely considered one of the most powerful manipulators of Nen in the series. He controls an army of corpses using specialized Nen needles and can also take control of living people, forcing them to obey his commands until they die. Illumi is capable of defeating over 20 inexperienced Hunters on his own, and he single-handedly eliminated the Ten Dons, the leaders of the Mafia. Hisoka believes Illumi is stronger than many members of the Zodiac, the strongest Nen users in the Hunter Association.

Phinks is the fifth member of the Phantom Troupe and their second strongest physically. He’s a quick-tempered and brutal fighter, demonstrated by his swift killing of Dalzollene, a bodyguard from the Nostrade Family. He’s incredibly fast and responsive, even managing to catch Killua mid-attack despite Killua’s enhanced speed.

Phinks is a highly skilled fighter who created his own unique combat style. He’s known for quickly disabling opponents by twisting their necks, and he’s used this technique to defeat many mafia members. As an Enhancer, Phinks can boost the power of his punches using his aura by spinning his arm. During the Chimera Ant Arc, he demonstrated this ability by destroying a tough Chimera Ant with a single punch after only fifteen rotations.

Feitan is one of the original members of the Phantom Troupe, and he essentially took charge when Chrollo was absent. He’s member number two and the fifth strongest physically. Many believe Feitan is the fastest member of the Troupe, a fact demonstrated in Yorknew City where he incredibly quickly defeated numerous mafia members. Even Kalluto Zoldyck, a very talented assassin, couldn’t follow his movements.

Feitan is an incredibly strong fighter who can change his body’s properties, and also use Emission and Conjuration abilities. His Pain Packer allows him to cover himself in protective armor, and he can generate a small, intensely hot sun using his aura. This sun is powerful enough to instantly destroy opponents like Zazan, a Chimera Ant leader, and even take out multiple members of his own group. Because of this immense power, Feitan is one of the strongest characters in anime who can wield sun-based abilities.

2. Uvogin

Uvogin was the 11th member of the Phantom Troupe and their most physically powerful fighter. He was a true ‘Enhancer,’ meaning he used his aura to dramatically increase his strength, allowing him to easily shatter rocks and defeat most opponents – even skilled Nen users – with a single blow. He could even tear people apart with his bare hands.

Uvogin effortlessly defeated a large group of Mafia members on his own. He then quickly and easily defeated several Shadow Beasts, barely getting hurt in the process. Incredibly, he even killed three Shadow Beasts while completely paralyzed, using only his head and mouth. Uvogin’s incredible ability to enhance his strength meant his punches hit with the force of a missile, allowing him to damage opponents from a distance without even touching them.

1. Chrollo Lucifer

Chrollo is known as member number zero, but he’s most recognized as the founder and leader of the Phantom Troupe. While he isn’t the strongest physically – ranking seventh within the group – he’s an incredibly intelligent strategist and exceptionally quick, able to evade attacks that happen in the blink of an eye. During the Yorknew City arc, Chrollo faced off against Silva and Zeno Zoldyck, two highly skilled and powerful assassins, with Zeno being a true master of Nen. Remarkably, Chrollo not only survived the battle but fought on equal footing with both of them, and it was later discovered he hadn’t even been fighting at full strength.

Chrollo is an incredibly strong Nen user with a unique ability: he can steal the powers of others. However, there are conditions – he needs to witness the ability being used, the target must discuss Nen, and they have to touch the cover of his special book. Because of this, Chrollo has taken abilities from many skilled Nen users, allowing him to defeat opponents like Hisoka with relative ease.
