The next Pokémon games, titled Pokémon Winds and Waves, have been announced, but fans will have to wait until 2027 to play them. This means the current generation, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, will be supported for a longer period. The time between Winds and Waves and Scarlet and Violet will be around five years – the longest gap between Pokémon generations ever. A recent leak offers some insight into what the new games might be like and when they could be released, if the information is accurate.
According to a recent leak from Centro Leaks, Game Freak is currently working on four Pokémon projects, with two more planned for the future. The leak suggests that remakes of the Generation 5 games might not be happening, potentially even after the release of Pokémon Winds and Waves. While it’s not certain – Game Freak could choose to have another company develop the remakes, like they did with Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl – it seems unlikely at the moment. This means fans might be waiting a while for the next major Pokémon release.
Every Pokemon Game and DLC Leaked So Far
According to leaked information, here are the projects Game Freak is currently developing, ranging from those well underway to those just beginning:
- Pokemon Winds and Waves (Full production) — This is the only set of games on the list that has been officially announced, but recent leaks state that Pokemon Winds and Waves will launch in late 2027. The original prediction was that they would come in 2026 to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary, but they were announced for 2027 in their reveal trailer. Then, several sources claimed that Gen 10 would come late in 2027, presumably in October or November.
- Pokemon Pokopia DLC (Full production) — Seeing the smashing success of Pokemon Pokopia on Switch 2, it’s no wonder that a DLC will come out. Based on the TeraLeak, it seems that all future Pokemon games will be planned with at least one DLC in mind, and Pokopia is no exception. The TeraLeak also mentioned a few areas for Pokopia‘s DLC to explore, but it remains to be seen. It’s likely that this project will come between the end of 2026 and early 2027.
- Pokemon Winds and Waves DLC (Full production) — Again, due to an internal decision, Gen 10 will inevitably have its own DLC. This is most likely a 2028 release, though.
- New Pokemon Legends Game (Full production) — The TeraLeak included early concepts and leaks for Pokemon Legends Galar, a new game in this series that explores the Galar region very far back in time. Players will allegedly command small hordes of Pokemon to defeat rampant Dynamax pocket monsters across the region. This game will most likely be released in late 2028 at the earliest and early 2030 at the latest.
- Pokemon Project Seed (Pre-production) — This game was also mentioned in the TeraLeak as a possible MMO Pokemon game spanning the regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. This game may feature procedurally generated Pokemon, based on early concepts in the TeraLeak, but this is subject to change because it was originally conceived as part of Gen 10. Seeing how this title is reportedly in pre-production, it may not be released before 2031.
- Pokemon Gen 11 (Pre-production) — Last but not least, Gen 11 is confirmed to be conceptualized, at the very least, if the leak is true. The TeraLeak stopped at Gen 10 projects, so this is entirely new territory, and nothing is known about it. Considering Gen 10’s release in 2027, Gen 11 may be slated for 2031 or 2032.

Game Freak’s Pokemon Release Schedule for Gen 10 Explained
Considering everything, Game Freak has a very full schedule planned for the next few years. However, it’s hard to say how reliable the 2025 Pokémon TeraLeak is. The leaked documents contained information up to 2024, so plans may have changed since then. The names Pokémon Winds and Waves appear to be confirmed, and the reveal trailer suggests some early ideas made it into the game.
After years of silence, we still don’t know much about how Pokemon Legends: Galar would play, or even if it’s still happening. If this new information about games in development at Game Freak is accurate—and newer than previous leaks—it suggests that a Pokemon massively multiplayer online game is in the works, even if it doesn’t take place in Japan.
While not officially announced, it’s highly likely that DLC for Pokemon Winds and Waves and Pokemon Pokopia is coming. Details about Pokopia might already be available online if previous leaks are accurate. Plus, a new generation of Pokemon (Gen 11) has been expected for a while, so it’s almost certain to happen.
