In Genshin Impact, the ‘This is Not a Painting’ puzzles in the Neverness to Everness area challenge players to correctly position paintings within given frames. The anomaly commission is brief and offers good rewards upon completion. It consists of three levels, each with a unique twist to increase the difficulty. Here’s a guide on how to finish the ‘This is Not a Painting’ anomaly commission.
How To Complete This Is Not A Painting Anomaly Commission In NTE
To start This is Not a Painting anomaly commission in NTE, head southwest of Caltrop Lake.
Head to the hill with the marker and find the puppet close to the paintings. You’ll see a blank space that looks like it could fit two doors.
To solve the first puzzle, you need to position the two doors in the painting so they fit within the empty frame. This requires adjusting the camera angle. We’ve found that standing to the left of the easel and tilting the camera upwards until the painting briefly flashes is the way to do it.
Walk through the door and you’ll see a painting of a room with one door and a window showing the moon. Stand behind the chair next to the painting and try to line up the door in the painting with the actual door hidden behind the easel. The goal is to make it look like there’s a double door, creating an opening. If you position everything correctly, the painting will briefly flash, and the door will unlock.
The last stage is a little trickier than the first two. Even Esper Zero notes it seems to take more effort. You’ll start by going to the desk with the small door. This prompts the character in NTE to suggest finding a light, since it’s very dark.
Face the large black statue and walk towards the easel beside it. You’ll see a floating light source. To solve the puzzle, adjust your camera view so the light appears to connect with the tripod hidden behind the painting.
It can be a little challenging, but the best way I’ve found is to position yourself facing the easel and angle the camera downwards. Make sure the painting’s edge lines up with the end of the red curtain – it will almost look like the entire curtain becomes white.
Now that there’s enough light, you can see a small door and a painting behind it. Stand to the right of the desk and adjust the camera until the small door lines up with the door in the painting.
Exit through the newly created double door to complete This is Not a Painting side quest in NTE.
