Re-Logic, the team behind Terraria, is working on a new update (version 1.4.5.7) that will address some of the game’s most annoying combat issues and less useful items. The update will focus on smoothing out awkward gameplay and giving overlooked items a purpose, alongside other improvements.
The latest update for Terraria, version 1.4.5, launched in late January 2026, bringing content from Palworld and Dead Cells. Along with these additions, the update included many improvements to gameplay balance and quality of life. Players can now craft items directly from nearby chests, quickly switch cosmetic accessories, see treasure locations on the minimap, and stack up to 9,999 of the same armor or weapons. True to form, Re-Logic followed up the initial update with several smaller patches to fix bugs and refine the game even further, bringing the current version to 1.4.5.6.
Terraria 1.4.5.7 Update Aims to Fix Broken Combat Mechanics
As a huge Terraria fan, I was really excited to see Re-Logic’s latest update! They’re still working on the 1.4.5.x framework and gave us a peek at what’s coming in hotfix 1.4.5.7. It sounds like they’re really focusing on balance this time around, which is great. They’re digging into some frustrating combat issues, like enemies being too aggressive or weapons not working quite right. For example, they’re looking at the Gastropod – that enemy can shoot you even if you’re on a different screen, which is pretty annoying! They’re also planning to fix some invisible hitboxes, which should make combat feel much fairer. I’m really looking forward to seeing these improvements!
The next update also seems to be focusing on improving existing items. Re-Logic plans to make underused equipment and less popular ways of playing the game more useful, meaning update 1.4.5.7 will refine the experience and give overlooked tools clearer purposes. They also hinted at a new minion for Terraria’s Summoner class, describing it as a fun addition for players who enjoy a more hands-on approach. This seems to be a playful tease for a small, tree-like creature similar to Groot from Marvel Comics. The adorable, two-legged plant prefers close-range combat, as shown in a short animation shared by Re-Logic. This new, currently unnamed minion is intended as an early-game option for Summoner players.
Re-Logic hasn’t announced a release date for Terraria update 1.4.5.7, but they’re hinting that it won’t be the final update in the 1.4.5.x series. They plan to release another quick fix, version 1.4.5.8, before fully moving on to Terraria 1.4.6. This upcoming patch will continue their work to make sure all versions of the game work the same way. Achieving this consistency is essential for delivering the long-awaited crossplay update, which has been in development since October 2023.

The April 2026 game update also included details for different platforms. DR Studios is working to release version 1.4.5.7 on consoles and mobile around the same time as the PC version, while also improving the game’s systems for crossplay. Support for modding is lagging behind; the latest version of tModLoader, released in May, still uses an older version of the game (1.4.4), and it will likely take several more months before it fully supports version 1.4.5.
