Best Team Comps With Scarlet Witch
As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that playing with Scarlet Witch is always a thrilling adventure! Her unique abilities and versatile playstyle make her an exciting character to master.
Each game should include a character designed for beginners. These characters typically possess a limited number of straightforward skills that are simple to employ, enabling new players to start playing immediately.
In the game Marvel Rivals, it’s the Scarlet Witch who takes on the challenging role of a duelist. Despite her 1-star rating suggesting basic moves, be mindful not to underestimate her abilities.
Wanda is a character that’s simple to pick up but challenging to perfect. A prime demonstration of this is when she employs her ultimate ability; executing it successfully requires patience in mastering the technique and precision in choosing the correct moment.
If you’re just beginning and aim to showcase an impressive Minimum Viable Product (MVP) using Scarlet Witch, here’s an extensive walkthrough on how to effectively play her:
Scarlet Witch Abilities Explained
If you’ve experienced Overwatch 2 previously, you might find Scarlet Witch less complex than Moira as she primarily focuses on offensive abilities rather than team healing responsibilities like Moira does.
In a similar fashion, they both utilize the Fade technique, which allows Scarlet Witch’s Mystic Projection to grant improved and more precise vertical navigation.
However, beyond these shared traits, Wanda’s powers primarily revolve around offensive maneuvers or delaying tactics against adversaries.
Ability | Description |
---|---|
Chaos Control | Your primary fire lets you use chaos magic on enemies in front of you. It has infinite ammo, so you do not have to worry about reloading. Chaos Control also restores your chaos energy, which is needed when you want to use the Chthonian Burst. |
Chthonian Burst | Your alt-fire lets you shoot explosive magic missiles. It deals extra damage to the enemy that is hit directly by it. Chthonian Burst also does AoE damage to nearby enemies. |
Dark Seal | Scarlet Witch can shoot a forcefield at an enemy or on the battlefield. Any enemies that pass through this field will be stunned for a short duration periodically. You can use this ability again if you want to detonate the field early. |
Mystic Projection | You can use Mystic Projection to enter a ghost-like state. In this form, Scarlet Witch doesn’t take any damage and can even fly up. You can use this ability again to exit the phase early. |
Telekinesis | You can hold the jump button while flying to slow down your fall. |
Reality Erasure | Scarlet Witch starts flying while charging her energy. Once the charge is complete, she unleashes it all at once to deal massive damage. |
Scarlet Witch Offensive Strategies
The golden rule for playing Scarlet Witch is to be aggressive and fight with your team. But you also shouldn’t overcommit, so, be ready to escape if your team is getting eliminated in the backlines.
As a diehard fan, I’ve found that for the majority of battles, my go-to moves are Chaos Control and Chthonian Bursts. But every now and then, certain situations call for a change in strategy, and that’s where these offensive tactics prove invaluable.
- Keep firing: Scarlet Witch is one of the few characters that has infinite ammo for her primary fire. Not being able to reload is a blessing, as that is one less thing you need to keep track of. As such, whenever you see the enemy team fighting in groups, use your Chaos Control to deal them as much damage as possible.
- Don’t forget about Chthonian Burst: Wanda has 4 maximum charges of Chthonian Burst. These recharge the more you damage your enemy with Control Chaos. So make sure you use Chthonian Burst often. A good rule of thumb is to keep two for emergency use and use the rest as soon as it recharges.
- You can fly: Having the high ground in fights can be a game-changing factor. Thanks to Mystic Projection, you can take the fight to the skies. Be it shooting an enemy Iron Man down, or raining fire from above. A good Scarlet Witch player knows when to use Mystic Projection for aggressive plays and when to escape.
- Dark Seal works wonders at choke points: Being able to stun your enemy periodically is useful. But with the right placement, you can keep your enemy away from the objective, or at least slow them down. Additionally, while the enemy is stunned, they are an easy target to spam your Chthonian Bursts with.
- Timing is the key to Reality Erasure: Much like Iron Man’s Pulse Cannon, Reality Erasure is another ability that is capable of wiping the enemy team out. But just like him, Scarlet Witch is also vulnerable while it charges. To make things worse, her ultimate charges even slower than Pulse Canon and Wanda shouts out to make everyone aware of her position. An effective workaround for it is to use Mystic Projection to fly up high, use Reality Erasure, and after you see the third orb on the screen, you should start descending towards your enemy. This should make it harder for them to eliminate you while you are vulnerable.
Scarlet Witch Defensive Strategies
Achieving kills and being named MVP is a goal shared by all team members. However, if a fragile character such as Scarlet Witch becomes overly aggressive in pursuing kills, situations can escalate rapidly.
In the course of maintaining an objective, it’s common to encounter instances where adversaries attempt to lunge at you with the intention of eliminating you.
Fortunately, Scarlet Witch possesses several skills that prove beneficial when faced with tight situations. Here are some defensive tactics you might employ should you find yourself at a disadvantage against your adversaries.
- Use Dark Seal against melee fighters: Enemies like Iron Fist and Spider-man are known for flanking. Placing a Dark Seal on the ground near you can stun them once they get in the field. This is an excellent opportunity to finish them off with a barrage of Chthonian Bursts.
- Hold unto 1 charge of Mystic Projection: Scarlet Witch is kind of a glass cannon hero which is very easy to eliminate. However, Mystic Projection more than makes up for her squishiness, allowing her to safely escape most fights. The best part is you can grab health kits when in this ghost state.
- Healers can’t heal during Mystic Projection: One of the disadvantages of Mystic Projection is your strategists can’t heal you. So knowing your team positioning and locations of health kits is more of a necessity for Scarlet Witch than a choice.
- Try fighting in a group: Unless the enemy team has a Moon Knight, this is a very useful strategy for Scarlet Witch. The reason you should fight with your team, especially next to a vanguard, is because the moment the battle gets too heated for you, you can escape. This will leave the enemy with not much of a choice but to target the other heroes.
Scarlet Witch Team-Up Abilities
Team-Up | Heroes Needed | Description |
---|---|---|
Chaotic Bond | Scarlet Witch | As Scarlet Witch, if you have Magneto on your team, you infuse him with Chaos Energy, which enchants his Greatsword. It adds projectiles to his melee attacks. |
Magneto |
Chaotic Bond lets this mutant father-and-daughter duo become the stars of the show.
As a Vanguard, Magneto excels in defensive strategies, often shielding himself with his Metal Shield Barrier to deflect incoming attacks. Yet, enhancing his offensive capabilities could be beneficial.
Using Chaotic Bond, he can hurl rapid melee attacks as projectiles towards his adversaries. The reach is reasonable, dealing greater harm to the primary target while also causing area-of-effect damage to surrounding foes.
A powerful strategy for this pair could involve Magneto casting Metal Barrier over Quicksilver’s wife (Scarlet Witch), simultaneously while she deploys her Reality Erasure ability. This added defense should ensure that the ultimate attack successfully lands, as it becomes difficult for the opponent to harm Scarlet Witch significantly.
Scarlet Witch Counters & How To Deal With Them
In terms of adversaries, Wanda finds it challenging to contend with characters who possess shields and substantial health reserves, as this category mostly poses difficulties for her, making many Vanguards a tough nut to crack for her.
Fighting characters like Groot, Hulk, or Venom becomes more challenging due to their shields blocking your attacks. Therefore, it’s generally wise to steer clear of confrontations with these team members whenever possible, unless you’re building up your chaos energy or they’re extremely low on health and present an opportunity for a decisive strike.
Additionally, she shares the vulnerability to snipers similar to characters like Hawkeye and Black Widow. Consequently, although she excels in handling melee combatants with her Dark Seal, her limited range makes it challenging for her to counter long-range adversaries who often stay out of reach.
The best way to deal with these counters is by avoiding fights with Vanguards and sneaking up on duelists with long-range to fight them up close. The goal is to catch the enemy off guard. You can also fly to make it harder for snipers to shoot you out of the air.
Best Team Comps With Scarlet Witch
Magneto makes an excellent partner when playing Scarlet Witch, primarily due to their synergistic move known as Chaotic Bond. However, it’s also important not to overlook Magneto’s Metal Bulwark ability. By using Magneto to fortify Scarlet Witch, you can become more aggressive in your strategies.
To partner up with Wanda (Scarlet Witch), consider choosing either Hela or the Punisher. Given that Scarlet Witch operates at a medium range, it’s beneficial to have a teammate who can handle distant threats effectively.
Based on your team setup, Hela and Punisher cater to distinct roles. Hela excels when you require a character to counteract Scarlet Witch’s unpredictable gameplay. Additionally, Hela possesses an ability called Astral Flock, which in a sense mirrors Mystic Projection. This skill allows her to leave the battlefield momentarily, making it challenging for enemies to concentrate on a single target, compelling them to switch targets instead.
Instead of him, the Punisher might be a more suitable choice if you’re aiming for consistent damage. His Culling Turret and ultimate, Final Judgement, are effective not only in damaging the opposing team but also in making the Punisher their main focus. Consequently, while they are busy trying to eliminate the Punisher, you can sneak up from behind and take out their key strategists or more vulnerable targets.
In summary, the tactical match between Cloak & Dagger and Scarlet Witch is quite effective. When controlling Wanda, you frequently find yourself in situations where you must adopt a more assertive approach, given her mid-range attack capabilities. However, this can be tricky, especially when health packs are scarce in the vicinity.
Fortunately, Dagger’s Lightforce dagger has a good reach, allowing her to heal you from a safe distance. Another option is to employ Mystic Projection for an escape, leading into Dagger Storm – a healing-over-time force field. Upon regaining full health, you can return to the fight with renewed confidence and less concern about being defeated by the enemies.
