To get the Helm Hobbyist Calling Card, you need to find all four Viking Helmets during one game of Totenreich. Luckily, it’s not a super hard challenge, and each helmet is usually pretty easy to unlock. Don’t forget to grab them – they each have special abilities that can help you survive for a long time!
Here’s a guide to getting the Cointoss Helm, Icebane Helm, Kneehigh Helm, and Golden Tide Helm, and how to use their unique abilities. We’ll also help you decide which helmet is best for any challenge!
All Viking Helmets in Totenreich Overview
| Helmet | Effect | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Cointoss Helm | Higher chance to get Power-Ups | Complete the Tyr’s Head coordinates easter egg 10 times |
| Icebane Helm | Become immune against frost | Kill 250 Zombies with Flammenfalle and 50 Frost Zombies with Flammenfalle’s flame aura |
| Kneehigh Helm | Become an invincible gnome | Destroy 4 gnomes with the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod |
| Golden Tide Helm | Better loot when fishing | Go fishing until you spawn Olaf, Cranker of Cod |
Once you’ve gotten a Viking Helmet, you’re not limited to just one! You can change between different helmets whenever you like at the Blodheim Hall, and this change will persist even if you save, exit, and reload your game.
How to Get the Golden Tide Helm (Viking Helmet #1)
This Helmet Provides Greater Loot When Fishing
- Obtained by: Fishing
- Effects: Better chance of high-tier loot when fishing
To get the Golden Tide Helm, you’ll need to start fishing. You can find fishing rods in wooden barrels all over the map, especially in the buildings on Beacon Island and around Fishery Island. Once you have a rod, just fish at any of the 11 fishing spots.
We have the locations of all fishing spots marked on the map in this guide!
When you fish, there’s a small chance of reeling in a boot instead of a fish. This boot will transform into a zombie, sometimes appearing as Olaf, the Cranker of Cod. If you defeat this zombie, it will drop the Golden Tide Helm. Wearing the Golden Tide Helm gives you an increased chance of finding valuable loot while fishing, including powerful items like Power-Ups, Scorestreaks, and Wonder Weapons.
How to Get the Cointoss Helm (Viking Helmet #2)
This Helmet Provides More Power-Up Spawns
- Obtained by: Completing the Tyr’s Head coordinates easter egg 10 times
- Effects: Higher chance of Power-Up drops from killing zombies
To complete the Cointoss Helm challenge, head to Tyr’s Head. At the main terminal, you’ll see a letter and number combination (like E2) followed by a reset, and then another number (such as 75). You need to find the location that corresponds to your letter and number on the Tac Map – for example, E2 matches Storm Bridge. Then, eliminate the zombies in that location until the light at Tyr’s Head turns green.
We have a dedicated guide that shows the map and coordinate locations right here!
Okay, so once I rack up enough kills, I can head back to Tyr’s Head and grab a Power-Up from the ladder. Then it’s basically a grind – I need to do that whole ‘read the terminal, go to the spot, kill zombies, come back for a reward’ thing ten times total. The good news is, after doing it the tenth time, I finally get the Cointoss Helm, which means I’ll find Power-Ups more often. It’s a bit repetitive, but that helm sounds worth it!
How to Get the Icebane Helm in Totenreich (Viking Helmet #3)
This Helmet Provides Ice Immunity & Cryo Freeze Slides
- Obtained by: Killing 250 Normal Zombies with the Flammenfalle & 50 Frozen Zombies with bullet weapons while standing in the Flammenfalle.
- Effects: Immune to frost debuffs, and you can slide into zombies to freeze them.
To get the Icebane Helm, you’ll need to use Flammenfalle Traps, which are scattered throughout the game world. Using these traps requires meeting two specific conditions:
- Kill 250 Normal Zombies with the flamethrower part of the Flammenfalle, which is activated by the electrical panel on the wall.
- Kill 50 Frozen Zombies with bullet weapons while standing in the flame aura part of the Flammenfalle, which is activated by interacting with the trap itself.
Don’t use ammo modifications or explosives when fighting the Frozen Zombies – stick to regular bullets. We completed the Frozen Zombie challenge using the ‘Max Ammo Rounds’ perk, and it took about three rounds. Once you’ve done that, look near the Flammenfalle trap for the Icebane Helm. This helmet will prevent you from being frozen.
How to Get the Kneehigh Helm in Totenreich (Viking Helmet #4)
Obtained by: Shooting 4 gnomes around the map with Shadow Rift
Effects: Crouch to become an indestructible gnome with explosive powers
To use the Kneehigh Helm, you’ll need a weapon that uses Shadow Rift Ammo. Once you have the Arsenal equipped, you can locate and shoot four hidden gnomes outside the normal play area with this special weapon.
- Tyr’s Foot, face west towards the spotlight.
- Beacon Island, face southwest when looking at the lighthouse.
- Eidskallen Stave Church, north when facing the painting.
- Machine Workshop, northeast from the top stairs to the railing.
You can open the Machine Workshop by using the Wunderbarrage, a special reward you earn by completing the Wundersignal challenge. We have a guide to help you with the Wundersignal right here.
After you’ve defeated all four gnomes, go to Loven’s Antiquities in Eidskallen Square. You’ll find a display case containing the four gnomes and the Kneehigh Helm, which you can now take. Briefly transform into a gnome by crouching, and then buy the ability permanently at Blodheim Hall for 6,000 Essence.
What’s the Best Viking Helmet in Totenreich?
- For the boss fight and Frost Zombies, we recommend the Icebane Helm, as it completely removes the negative effects from freezing and snow blizzards.
- For high rounds, we recommend the Kneehigh Helm, as the Gnome is unkillable and can use PhD Flopper’s wall jump explosions, and can be reactivated for 6,000 Essence.
- The Cointoss Helm is also good, as Insta-Kills and Nukes can come in handy on high rounds, but it’s riskier than using the Gnome strat.
- You’ll want to ignore the Golden Tide Helm, as fishing is too time-consuming for just a Scorestreak.
