Today marks the release of the last installment in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, officially concluding this captivating story. The mastermind behind JJK, Gege Akutami, has drawn the final curtain on this enchanting tale, but not without offering a few more surprises to its devoted fans. The closing volume of JJK included an enticing 16-page epilogue as an added treat.
In the end, enthusiasts received fresh material to anticipate, and while this epilogue was brief, given its task of summarizing mini-epilogues for various characters, fans still uncovered intriguing tidbits of confirmation throughout. Without a doubt, the most surprising aspect of the chapter revolved around Panda’s epilogue, where it was revealed that a significant time jump occurred within the storyline.
How Gege Skipped 62 Years In JJK

- Fans saw Yuta’s Grandchildren
In the concluding chapter penned by JJK, the narrative began with Ozawa’s tale. This segment allowed readers to witness the heartwarming reunion of Ozawa and Yuji, followed by a revival of their long-lost camaraderie. For Ozawa, this encounter represented an opportunity to strengthen his bond with Yuji and potentially cultivate a deeper relationship, although Gege, the author, did not depict their relationship progression within the storyline.

After Ozawa’s conclusion, fans were treated to a scene featuring Panda, a moment that delivered one of the biggest surprises in JJK. In Panda’s epilogue, viewers discovered a storage room belonging to the Gojo family. Inside, children were playing around and eventually stumbled upon the Panda doll. This was the same Panda that fans had encountered earlier in JJK. The 2018 Culling Game inflicted a severe blow on him, making his two cores inoperable and significantly weakening him in combat. By the year 2035, it was revealed that Panda had essentially stopped functioning.
It wasn’t exactly explained to the audience why or when Panda ceased functioning. However, it’s speculated that Panda may have stopped performing his sorcerer duties, possibly due to an inability to fight effectively anymore. This could be the reason he was considered unnecessary and ultimately deactivated completely in 2035.
2035 saw no further events disclosed to the audience, which is regrettable. However, this marked a gap of seventeen years in the narrative. Surprisingly, fans had anticipated a time jump in JJK, but they were taken aback even more when it was announced that Panda’s epilogue was set in 2080 instead.
In the year 2080, Panda began moving once more. It was established that he had been stored by the Gojo family during this time. Occasionally, Panda would regain the ability to move and speak again. Yet, it’s uncertain if he ever fully deactivates at specific instances.
Yuta And Maki’s Legacy After 62 Years
Yuta and Maki Have Grandkids
In a stunning twist for fans, the 62-year time jump in JJK was jaw-dropping, but what truly left them astonished was discovering that the kids in the epilogue were none other than Yuta’s grandchildren! It turned out that Yuta had taken on the role of head of the Gojo family. By the time Panda ceased functioning, or by the year 2035, Yuta had already assumed this position. This is why Panda was permitted to remain within the Gojo family’s facility, and it was Yuta himself who looked after him, placing him alongside other valuable possessions like his numerous swords.

As Yuta’s grandkids frolicked with Panda, the long-slumbering, cursed being stirred awake and appeared displeased by their demeanor. It became evident to spectators that while the cursed form was considered ineffective, Panda occasionally exhibits functionality.
Through Panda, it became known to fans that the two kids were actually Yuta’s grandchildren, however, unfortunately, Yuta himself did not make an appearance. Regarding these grandkids, it turned out that Yuta has a grown-up male grandson and a young female one. Interestingly, the young girl resembles Yuta strongly, and she appears to have inherited more of his traits than her brother. Additionally, she seems to wear a necklace with a ring that fans recognize as belonging to Yuta. It’s uncertain if Rika can still be summoned using this ring or not, but it suggests that at the moment, Rika may serve as their family protector.
In JJK, it’s evident that Yuta and Maki bear a striking resemblance to each other, reminiscent of both Megumi and Maki. This likeness, coupled with the Zenin genes easily identifiable by fans, suggests a romantic history between them, even though the author hasn’t explicitly confirmed it. What we do know is that they ended up together and had children, whose appearance in the story adds an intriguing twist to its conclusion. However, the identities of their kids remain undisclosed to the readers, leaving a hint of mystery in the grand finale.
What Happened To The Other Sorcerers?
The Fate Of The Others Remains Unknown
In the year 2080, only Yuta, Maki, and Panda were the characters about whose survival fans had definite information. However, it’s still uncertain if Maki was alive around that time. Given her Heavenly Restriction and a body surpassing human limits, many assume she is alive and didn’t meet an ordinary death. Concerning the others, Panda’s fate was disclosed, and he remains in the Gojo family facility as previously mentioned.

In the year 2080, no clues were given by the author about the outcomes of any other characters apart from Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi. As of now, fans can merely speculate that they had a satisfying life and a fitting conclusion, but it’s all up to hope. If the manga JJK resumes in the future, there might be a chance for us to catch a glimpse of their lives 62 years ahead, thus clarifying their fates. Naturally, fans are eager to learn what became of these significant characters: Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi.
Currently, supporters can just delight in the fact that Yuta and Maki found each other, a development that 62 years on will be continued by their descendants, preserving their legacy indefinitely. This heartwarming twist was a lovely touch to the narrative, and it was contrasted effectively by Panda’s distasteful and somewhat tragic conclusion. Fans can merely cross their fingers for another standalone story from Gege at some future date, further enriching the captivating ending of JJK.
In Japan, the epilogue for the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen was released alongside its final volume on December 25, 2024. Eventually, an English translation of this final volume will become available in the year 2025.
