Donkey Kong Bananza’s Next DLC Event is Right Around the Corner

This month, a new event is starting in Donkey Kong Bananza, letting players who own the downloadable content get new statues to decorate DK Island. Donkey Kong Bananza came out last year on Nintendo Switch 2 as the second big exclusive game, following Mario Kart World. It quickly became popular with both critics and players, and won multiple awards last year.

In September 2025, a surprise DLC expansion was released for Donkey Kong Bananza, adding new content for players. A key feature of this expansion is the ability to unlock collectible statues. These statues allow the developers to celebrate the history of the Donkey Kong series, often featuring characters that weren’t included in Bananza‘s main story. The DLC has kept the game popular and given Donkey Kong fans a chance to see characters they haven’t seen in a while.

Donkey Kong Bananza’s Rattlin’ Snake Bananza Event

Heads up, fellow gamers! A new event called Rattlin’ Snake Bananza is hitting Donkey Kong Bananza on May 12th at 1 AM PT. It’s all about snake statues! They’ve been doing cool things with DLC events and bringing back older characters, and this one’s no different. We can unlock a statue based on DK’s Snake Bananza, and even get Rattly as an animal companion! If you remember Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, you’ll know Rattly – he lets you jump super high and far. The event runs until May 19th, so make sure to check it out!

The Rattlin’ Snake Bananza event is happening in the Radiance Layer of the game. Like other Bananza events, you’ll need the DLC to join in. The statues you find don’t unlock anything useful—they’re just for decorating DK Island. However, the event’s challenges are quite tough, making it perfect for players who want a real test of their skills.

Early in the Nintendo Switch’s lifespan, fans hadn’t seen a brand new Donkey Kong game. While Nintendo released updated versions and re-releases of older titles like Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, a completely new adventure was missing. Donkey Kong Bananza felt like a welcome addition, and its downloadable content is especially appreciated by long-time fans. It’s exciting to see characters returning as statues after being absent from the series for years.

It’s uncertain how much longer Nintendo will update Donkey Kong Bananza with new content, but there are still many DK characters who could receive their own collectible statues. Continuing these updates would help pass the time while fans wait for the next 3D Mario game, which is currently predicted to arrive in 2027 – though Nintendo hasn’t confirmed this. Many fans are eager for a sequel to Super Mario Odyssey, and it’s likely Nintendo is already working on one. For now, fans will need to be patient and see what Nintendo announces in the future.
