Asus has unveiled a variety of motherboards for the Ryzen 9000 series processors, which include their ROG Crosshair, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, and Prime series. These new models incorporate the latest Asus AI Advisor, a feature that complements the advanced AI capabilities of these top-tier motherboards.
Approximately eleven fresh motherboard models are available, ranging from the premium ROG Crosshair X870E APEX to the cost-effective Prime B840M-A. Asus enters the competition alongside MSI, ASRock, and Gigabyte, broadening the selection for AM5 motherboards.
Asus ROG Crosshair Motherboards Overview
The Crosshair line of motherboards tailored for “power users” such as overclockers and hardcore gamers, introduces two models: the ROG Crosshair X870E APEX, a recent addition, and the X870E HERO, which is currently available. Both are ATX motherboards that boast support for PCIe 5.0, upcoming Wi-Fi 7, and an array of AI features like AI Advisor, AI Overclocking, AI Cooling II, and AI Networking II. They also feature a Dynamic OC Switcher that seamlessly switches between AMD’s Precision Boost Overdrive and your manual overclock depending on the task at hand.
An AI Advisor functions as a digital, technical guru who not only responds to queries in everyday language, but also offers additional capabilities such as AI-enhanced overclocking and fine-tuning of fan speeds.
Asus ROG Strix Motherboards Overview
As a passionate cinephile diving into the world of gaming rigs, I’m thrilled to share that the latest Strix lineup unveils four exciting motherboards tailored for gamers like myself. These include:
1. The ROG Strix B850-E GAMING WIFI – a reliable ATX board boasting PCIe 5.0 and Wi-Fi 7 support, backed by Asus’ AI Advisor. It also offers additional AI-based features such as AEMP, Core Flex, and Dynamix OC Switcher.
2. The B850-F GAMING WIFI – another ATX board sharing the same PCIe 5.0 and Wi-Fi 7 support, but without the advanced AI capabilities of the B850-E.
3. The B850-A GAMING WIFI – yet another ATX board in the lineup, also supporting PCIe 5.0 and Wi-Fi 7, but similarly lacking the extensive AI features found on the B850-E.
4. Lastly, the mini-ITX B850-I GAMING WIFI – a compact yet powerful option for those with space constraints, offering the same PCIe 5.0 and Wi-Fi 7 support as its ATX counterparts, but also supporting the AI-based features alongside AEMP, Core Flex, and Dynamix OC Switcher.
In summary, the Strix lineup offers a range of motherboards for gamers, all featuring PCIe 5.0 and Wi-Fi 7 support, while the B850-E and B850-I models offer additional AI capabilities.
As a passionate cinemagoer of gaming setups, I’d say the ROG Strix motherboards are tailor-made for fashion-forward gamers, sporting sleek RGB illumination that proudly displays the iconic ROG logo. The B850-A models, in particular, come in a crisp white finish, catering to those who appreciate the elegance of all-white PC builds.
Asus TUF Gaming Motherboards Overview
The TUF Gaming series has expanded, introducing the mATX versions – the TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WIFI, the mATX B850M-PLUS, and the ATX B850-PLUS WIFI. Notably, only the B850-PLUS WIFI is compatible with Wi-Fi 7 technology, while the B850M-PLUS WIFI supports Wi-Fi 6E. However, they all share common features such as PCIe 5.0 support, AI Advisor, AEMP, Asus Driver Hub, and Asus GlideX functionalities. All three models boast four DIMM slots capable of accommodating up to 192GB of DDR5 RAM, along with a mix of USB 20Gbps Type-C ports and USB 10Gbps Type-A ports for your convenience.
Unfortunately, there are no white options here.
Asus Prime Motherboards Overview
Intended for “universal gamers,” the Prime lineup is expanding with three new models: B840-PLUS WIFI, B840M-A WIFI, and B840M-A. The B840-PLUS WIFI is a full ATX board, whereas the others are micro ATX. They all boast an 8+2+1 power phase design, yet none of them include PCIe 5.0 support or Wi-Fi 7 technology. Only the Prime X870-P offers PCIe 5.0 connectivity, but it lacks Wi-Fi compatibility. However, they all come equipped with the AI Advisor feature and AEMP, but no other AI-driven functionalities.
Previously noted, the Prime series caters to a more cost-conscious market in terms of motherboards. You won’t find advanced features like high-end overclocking capabilities or cutting-edge connection technologies with this lineup. However, these boards provide excellent worth and numerous expansion possibilities instead.
Asus AMD X870E, X870, B850, B840 Motherboards: Price and Availability
Asus hasn’t disclosed a specific release date for these motherboards yet, nor have they revealed their prices. Nonetheless, it’s expected that they will begin appearing in stores during the first quarter, with some models potentially hitting the shelves earlier than others.
On Amazon, you can purchase the ROG Crosshair X870E HERO for $698, whereas the ROG Strix X870-A Gaming WiFi is currently selling at $330, which is a $40 reduction from its usual price.
