As a huge fan, it’s bittersweet to say that Black Clover by Yuki Tabata has officially ended! The final chapter just came out in the latest issue of Jump GIGA. It’s been a long road, and honestly, the author’s been dealing with some really tough health issues and burnout for a while now. Because of that, the ending has been pretty divisive – a lot of fans, myself included, feel a bit let down, and it definitely felt rushed in places. It’s sad to see it go, but I’m grateful for the journey!

Due to the author’s declining health, the story concluded with Chapter 392 on May 1, 2026, leaving some important storylines unfinished. This included key character relationships and the future roles of Asta and Yuno as the Wizard King and Golden Dawn leader. Fortunately, a new Black Clover volume, number 38, will be released on August 4, 2026, and may offer fans a more complete conclusion that the author intended.

This change meant the story progressed much slower, so even though it was nearing its conclusion, finishing the series took longer than expected.

The next Black Clover volume release gives creator Yuki Tabata an opportunity to deliver a more satisfying conclusion with some extra story content. Adding this content can boost sales among fans who already followed the series in the magazine, similar to what happened with popular shonen series like My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen. For example, Kohei Horikoshi used extra volumes to refine the ending of My Hero Academia and even develop the romantic relationship between Izuku and Ochaco. Tabata could do the same by including a special chapter focusing on Asta’s life as the new Wizard King, and potentially exploring a romance with Noelle or Mimosa.

The Black Clover Franchise Will Continue Through Its Anime, Set To Return In October 2026

The Black Clover manga has largely concluded, even with the addition of extra chapters. It’s unlikely the author, Tabata, will revisit the series in the near future, leaving the anime as the only current continuation for fans.

After a break since 2021, the Black Clover anime is coming back in October 2026! Studio Pierrot promises improved animation and a better pace. Fans can look forward to a visual style similar to Bleach’s Thousand-Year Blood War, and the series might even expand on the original story.
