Every New Temtem Revealed for Temtem: Pioneers So Far

The Kickstarter campaign for Temtem: Pioneers, the new game from the creators of Temtem, has successfully concluded – and it was funded in just 8 hours! They even surpassed all their funding goals. While Temtem: Pioneers shares the monster-catching concept with the original Temtem, the gameplay is quite different. Temtem is already well-regarded as one of the best games like Pokemon, offering a strong story, competitive double battles, and a rewarding endgame with plenty to do. Like the first game, Temtem: Pioneers puts a lot of emphasis on collecting and battling the unique creatures known as Tems.

The Kickstarter campaign for Temtem: Pioneers was a huge success! Originally aiming to raise around $100,000, the project ultimately earned over five times that amount – reaching 580% of its initial budget, and potentially even more thanks to late pledges offered by the developers, Crema. Temtem: Pioneers features several significant changes and improvements compared to the first game, including:

  • This is a survival game, meaning players will have to scavenge Temtem: Pioneers‘ Downbelow for materials and resources to build bases and upgrade their gear.
  • Players will gain access to some different biomes to catch Temtems after defeating powerful bosses.
  • Temtem battles are real-time rather than turn-based, and players will be able to battle multiple Tems at a time. Catching mechanics are also different, requiring players to move around the battlefield.
  • Digital-type Temtem are not available in this game, but there will be several new Tems that were not in the original game. Three of these will be available as starters, and they will presumably have two evolutions each.

Although many players are sad to see Digital Temtem removed, the decision fits the game’s story, as the setting of Downbelow doesn’t have the technology to create them. The good news is that Temtem will be useful in other ways – you’ll be able to ride them and have them assist with collecting resources, which is important for building and surviving in the game.

Although only six new Temtem have been officially revealed so far, the Kickstarter campaign for this *Pokemonlike game promises many more. At least twelve, and possibly up to eighteen, additional Temtem have been confirmed, but haven’t been shown to the public yet.

  • Fossil Tems — Fossil Pokemon are a staple in the series, and Temtem: Pioneers will include Fossil Tems for the first time. These were the second stretch goal for the game, and will be three all-new Tems with an evolution each.
  • Starter Tems — Much like each generation of Pokemon starters, there will be three starters for Pioneers, and they will be all new Tems. They haven’t been revealed so far, though, but they will presumably have at least one evolution, or most likely two evolutions each.

Yes, you can pet all the creatures, called Tems, in the game! This was confirmed by the developers in a Kickstarter update.

Since we’ve reached the goals to include both the Crystal and Dark Forest areas in the game, we’re definitely getting at least one or two new Temtem evolution lines – one for Crystal-type and one for Mental-type. We don’t know what they’ll be yet, but there’s something else exciting to think about as well.

Predicting Temtem: Pioneers’ Starters

The first game featured three starter Temtem, each with two evolutions. They were designed with Crystal, Melee, and Mental types, creating a balanced system similar to the starter Pokémon in different generations. This balance worked because Crystal is strong against Mental but weak to Melee, Melee is strong against Crystal but weak to Mental, and Mental is strong against Melee but weak to Crystal. The new game, Pioneers, could use these same starter types, but with different secondary types added to each Temtem.

We don’t yet know the exact number of playable characters (Tems) in the final game, but at least 18 have been confirmed, and it’s likely there will be around 24 in total.
