LEGO has been very popular recently, particularly with gamers. After launching LEGO Pokemon sets a few months ago, they followed it up with the amazing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time diorama, and fans who enjoy building with LEGO and love video games are really enjoying these new releases.
Even though the Legend of Zelda LEGO set is a recent favorite, I’m even more excited about a new set that’s coming soon. If the rumors are true, we might find out about it and even be able to buy it within the next few months!
The LEGO community is buzzing about the LEGO Pokemon collaboration! We’ve already seen fantastic sets like Pikachu, Eevee, and a large Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard build (which costs $650). But this is just the start – rumors suggest many more LEGO Pokemon sets are coming, including some using LEGO’s new ‘Smart Play’ system. These sets will focus on popular Pokemon and memorable scenes from the games and animated series. I’m especially looking forward to a set featuring Mewtwo!
I’ve always loved Mewtwo, and I know many others feel the same way. Those who grew up with the original games will remember the excitement of finding Mewtwo in Pokemon Red or Blue, and its memorable appearance in the first Pokemon movie. While Pikachu is the face of Pokemon, I think Mewtwo quietly plays a significant role in the overall story.
Rumors suggest a LEGO Pokémon set featuring Mewtwo’s lab could be released this summer. Details are scarce, but it’s likely to include a glass tank, similar to how Mewtwo is often displayed in Pokémon games and movies. Fans might remember escape sequences from both the Detective Pikachu movie and the original Pokémon film, or even a replica of the lab at the Pokémon Centers in Tokyo.
I’m really excited about the LEGO Pokémon Mewtwo lab set, even though it’s not overly detailed or complicated. LEGO sets like that tend to be pricey, and I like to see a range of prices. While a $650 set would be impressive and definitely get noticed, it’s a significant investment.
Recent reports suggest the next series of LEGO Pokémon sets will be available this summer, so we should see official details very soon. It’s been several months since the first LEGO Pokémon sets were announced and launched, so fans are eager for more.
Besides the glass tank with Mewtwo, fans are wondering what else a LEGO Pokémon set focused on the Psychic-type Pokémon might include. While Mew isn’t mentioned in the set’s name, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it appear. If the set is designed as a display piece, LEGO might also include a miniature figure of Dr. Fuji.
Another key question is whether the Mewtwo set will be built entirely from LEGO bricks or feature a traditional minifigure. So far, LEGO Pokémon sets have only been brick-built – meaning they’re constructed from various LEGO pieces. However, there’s speculation that smaller, minifigure versions of Pokémon might be released soon. Personally, if they’re going to create a Mewtwo set, I’d prefer it to be built from bricks.
The LEGO Smart Play system has sparked debate among fans. It requires a special “Smart Brick” to activate lights and sounds, and because not every LEGO set includes one, some fans have expressed disappointment with its use, particularly in the Star Wars line.
You can still build, display, and play with LEGO sets as usual, but they won’t have all their features without the Smart Brick. Currently, it’s rumored that the new LEGO Mewtwo Lab set won’t include one. The LEGO Pikachu house is reportedly the only set that will come with a Smart Brick.
Great news! The set is expected to be released this summer, meaning you’ll be able to get a Smart Brick for the Mewtwo set. However, you’ll need to purchase two of the sets to get one.
You’ve probably heard about the LEGO Pokémon sets, but it was clear from the start that more were coming. With two huge companies like LEGO and Pokémon working together, we can expect a lot more products, including sets that aren’t part of the ‘Smart Play’ line. Personally, I’m most excited about the possibility of a LEGO Mewtwo set and can’t wait to see it – and get one for myself – if the rumors are true.
