IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light will run smoothly at 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 Pro. For players with the standard PlayStation 5, the game will include options for both higher visual quality and a performance mode that also achieves 60 FPS.
After being announced way back in 2020, the game 007 First Light is almost here, launching in just two weeks. Development hasn’t been easy. The first gameplay reveal in September 2025 received a mixed response. Players were interested in the game’s stealth features, but the demonstration suffered from significant performance issues, especially during a final shootout scene.
007 First Light Will Run at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro
IO Interactive has demonstrated that 007 First Light will run at a smooth 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 Pro. They shared a new 2-minute gameplay trailer on May 11th, featuring the same airfield sequence shown in September. Unlike the previous trailer, this new footage maintains a consistent framerate even during intense action, like explosions and special effects. The team playfully acknowledged past skepticism with the post: “007 FPS” they said back in September…(Eyes Emoji) Pleased to showcase 007 FIRST LIGHT is running at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro.

Several fans commented on a post asking about how well the game 007 First Light will run on a standard PlayStation 5. The official 007 First Light account responded, explaining that the game will have two modes: a Quality Mode and a Performance Mode. Quality Mode will prioritize visual detail and run at 30 frames per second, while Performance Mode will focus on a smoother 60 FPS, even if it means slightly less detailed graphics. This is a common setup for many large games on the PS5.
We don’t yet know how well 007 First Light will run on Xbox Series X/S. However, because the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have comparable hardware, it’s likely the game will perform similarly on both. The Xbox Series S is less powerful, so we’ll have to wait for IO Interactive to officially announce how the game will run on that console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light, originally intended to launch with the PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S versions, was delayed in early April. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak recently told The Game Business that the game is now running on the Switch 2, but the team wants to ensure it’s fully polished before release.
