After 28 Years, One Piece Officially Has A Water Devil Fruit

The latest chapter of One Piece, chapter 1182, officially released on May 10th, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 24, finally revealed Rain God Zaza – a long-awaited ability in the series. Author Eiichiro Oda introduced Zaza when Saint Killingham, a member of the Holy Knights, used the power of his revived Kirin Devil Fruit, bringing to life a major fear for the Celestial Dragons.

Similar to the Sun God, the Rain God is an exceptionally powerful being with control over rain and, broadly, water. This ability is among the most potent ever seen, and it manifests as a Devil Fruit within the story.

One Piece’s Latest Rain God Zaza Reveal In Chapter 1182 Introduces A Devil Fruit With Water-Related Powers

The latest chapter of One Piece, Chapter 1182, surprised fans by introducing a new god in the Elbaph arc. This arc has already heavily featured powerful, god-like beings, with details about them revealed in previous chapters (1138 and 1175). We’ve learned about characters like Loki, who embodies the Warrior God of Elbaph, and Nerona Imu, who represents the Devil God. Adding to this, Luffy possesses the power of the Sun God Nika. Because so many gods were already involved in the story on Elbaph, fans didn’t expect any more to appear, making the introduction of the Rain God Zaza in Chapter 1182 a complete shock.

Saint Killingham described growing up in a place so high above the world that rain was something terrifying and mythical. He explained that, after threats from the people of D and Nika, the biggest warning they received was about a creature called the Rain God, who lived below and supposedly poured water down on anyone above. This is how he spoke of Rain God Zaza in One Piece chapter 1182.

Rain God Zaza is an incredibly powerful figure with a long history in the world of One Piece. He was first alluded to in chapter 287 during the Skypiea Arc, within a flashback about Noland and Kalgara, and recently made a full appearance in chapter 1182. According to Saint Killingham, Zaza answers prayers for rain by flooding the world below with water. This is significant because the Celestial Dragons, who live above the clouds, almost never experience rain themselves, making Zaza’s power particularly impactful to them.

The Celestial Dragons see Rain God Zaza as more than just an enemy – he’s a frightening being with control over vast amounts of water. In Chapter 1182, Eiichiro Oda demonstrated Zaza’s incredible power by instantly unleashing a massive downpour on Elbaph Village, completely flooding and destroying the area. It’s clear that no Devil Fruit user could survive an attack from someone so powerful.

Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza Can Flood The Battlefield And Sink Devil Fruit Users

The Rain God Zaza’s powers are fundamentally the same as the Sun God Nika’s – both are manifestations of Devil Fruits within the world of One Piece. This was confirmed by Vegapunk in chapter 1069 of the manga, who explained that anything imaginable can become a Devil Fruit. Just as people’s hopes for freedom created the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, prayers for rain brought the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza into existence. Currently, the location of this Devil Fruit and who, if anyone, possesses its power remains a mystery, but the author will reveal this information later.

As the pleas for rain rose, he arrived—Rain God Zaza! —Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182

The Rain God Zaza Devil Fruit is a frightening ability, posing a threat not only to the Celestial Dragons but to all Devil Fruit users. While most Devil Fruit users aren’t significantly affected by rain, the Rain God’s power creates massive rainfall that can instantly flood an area. This allows the Rain God to completely control the battlefield and overwhelm opponents by submerging them. With this ability, the Rain God can easily weaken any Devil Fruit user and win most fights. Furthermore, this power makes the Rain God only the second known Devil Fruit user capable of nullifying other Devil Fruit abilities.

Rain God Zaza Is One Of Nerona Imu’s Biggest Fears

Chapter 1182 of One Piece revealed some surprising information about the Celestial Dragons and their connection to the Rain God. According to Killingham, the Celestial Dragons are actually afraid of the Rain God, Zaza. They were raised to fear three specific beings, and Zaza was one of them.

  • The people of the D: All children within the Celestial Dragon line are afraid of the special D people. They are told that the D would consume them, as was confirmed by Corazon in chapter 764 of One Piece in the Dressrosa arc.

Donquixote Rosinante recalls growing up hearing stories meant to scare children into behaving, where misbehaving kids were threatened with being taken away by ‘the D.’

  • The Sun God Nika: The name of Nika is always on the lips of the slaves who are oppressed and yearn for freedom. Nika always fights against the oppressors and leads the world to a complete reset, as was confirmed by Jarul in chapter 1136 of the manga.
  • Rain God Zaza: Killingham confirmed that, along with the other two entities, the Celestial Dragons also fear the Rain God Zaza due to the ability to pelt the lower world with rain showers and dump water atop their heads.

Nerona Imu is the leader of the Celestial Dragons, so the stories about the Gods likely originated with him. It’s already established that Imu fears powerful beings like the Sun God Nika, which explains why he’d also be cautious of the Rain God Zaza. This concern is especially understandable considering the Rain God fruit’s power might be able to negate Imu’s own Devil God abilities, potentially leaving him powerless against its immense water control.

Based on the latest One Piece chapter 1182, it’s now very clear that the Rain God Zaza is an ally to the Sun God Nika and the people of the D. We can expect to see the person who possesses the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Zaza, appear soon, and the author, Oda, will likely reveal more about this powerful Devil Fruit ability.
