Streetwear brand Subciety is partnering with the popular series Baki for a new clothing collection. The line will feature shirts with iconic characters, artwork, and designs from the long-running manga, Baki the Grappler. Originally launched in Weekly Shonen Champion in 1991, Baki remains popular with anime and manga fans, spawning five sequels and several animated adaptations. Despite its distinctive and sometimes intense art style, creator Keisuke Itagaki continues to be recognized, and this collaboration offers fans another way to celebrate the series.
I’m so excited more people are finally discovering Baki! It’s been around for 35 years, but the 2018 anime on Netflix really brought it to a wider audience. TMS Entertainment animated it – they’re the team behind awesome shows like Detective Conan, Dr. Stone: Stone Wars, Undead Unluck, and Yowamushi Pedal, so you know the action is good! People are loving how wild and over-the-top it is, and honestly, the absurdity is part of the fun. Some have mentioned the 3D animation isn’t perfect, but dedicated fans – like me! – are always happy to see more of Itagaki’s work come to life.
Streetwear Brand Subciety Reveals Vivid Baki T-Shirt Collection
Subciety has released a new line of five T-shirts celebrating the popular manga and anime series, Baki. The designs feature iconic imagery like Kaoru Hanayama’s famous fighting pose and artwork from chapter 37 of the manga. Originally sold at the ‘Baki the Grappler Exhibition Osaka 2026’ – a 35th-anniversary event held from April 24th to May 10th – these shirts are now available for preorder on the Subciety Online Store. Each T-shirt costs ¥9,900 (approximately $63) and comes in sizes Small to Extra Large.
Throughout 2026, fans are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Baki series. McDonald’s Japan recently hinted at a special collaboration, featuring the popular Chicken Tatsuta sandwich. An exhibit called ‘Baki the Grappler Exhibition Osaka 2026′ at the Daimaru Umeda Store showcased original artwork and manuscripts from the series’ creator, covering its entire history. With half of 2026 remaining, more exciting partnerships and events are expected.
With over 100 million copies sold, Baki is a hugely popular manga, ranking among classics like Astro Boy, Fist of the North Star, Hajime no Ippo, and My Hero Academia. The series has gone beyond anime to inspire video games and even stage plays in Japan. The latest anime adaptation, Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai, debuted in February 2026.
