David Schwartz, the CTO over at Ripple, recently dropped a truth bomb💥: They could theoretically create an XRP-only universe. But why would they want to live in a world where they’re the only kid on the blockchain playground?
He went on to say that such a move would be like throwing a party and only inviting your goldfish. Sure, it’s company, but it’s not exactly a networking opportunity. 🐠
Back in the day, Ripple had to make a choice: Go all in on XRP or play the field. They chose the latter, because let’s face it, who wants to show up to the prom without a date?
Ripple wants to wine and dine its customers, not force-feed them XRP. “We’re all about that best experience, baby,” he might as well have said.
Now, Ripple’s all about Ripple Payments Direct (RPD). Because, you know, variety is the spice of life. Or at least, the spice of payment solutions.
“I’m not about to tell people to use my favorite toy just because it’s mine,” Schwartz added, probably while playing with a yo-yo or something.
