On May 31, 2026, Xbox Game Pass will remove five games from its library. This includes several well-regarded titles from Atlus, which will significantly reduce the number of highly-rated RPGs available on the service.
In late May, several games will be leaving the service, including Persona 4 Golden, a popular Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) that was added to Xbox Game Pass in August 2025. This isn’t the first time the game has been on the service; it was previously available from January 2023 to January 2024.
Persona 4 Golden and Metaphor: ReFantazio Leaving Xbox Game Pass Soon
Both Persona 4 Golden and Metaphor: ReFantazio are leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 31, 2026. Persona 4 Golden is being removed less than a year after returning to the service, and Metaphor: ReFantazio, a highly-rated fantasy JRPG with social elements similar to Persona, had originally joined Game Pass in May 2025. Spray Paint Simulator, which debuted on the service on the same day as Metaphor: ReFantazio, will also be leaving on May 31st.

*Xbox Game Pass stint durations are rounded down to the nearest full month.
Two more games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 31st: the colorful action-platformer Crypt Custodian and the dark fantasy city builder Against the Storm. Crypt Custodian is leaving just before its one-year anniversary on the service, while Against the Storm has been available for almost two and a half years. For players who enjoy earning achievements, Spray Paint Simulator and Crypt Custodian are the most realistic options to complete before they’re removed. The other games leaving require a much larger time investment to finish, even just to play through them once, let alone earn all the achievements.
Another Persona 4 Version Is Coming to Xbox Game Pass—Eventually
If you’re a JRPG fan who hasn’t played Persona 4 Golden on Xbox Game Pass, you might want to hurry, as its availability could end soon. Luckily, a remake called Persona 4 Revival is confirmed to be available on Game Pass from day one, though we don’t have a specific release date yet. Originally announced in June 2025, and with another showcase planned for June 7, 2026, we may soon learn when exactly this updated version will be released.
Xbox Game Pass is getting a few new games soon! Escape Simulator will be available starting May 26th, and then on May 27th, you can play Echo Generation 2 and The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition. Finally, on May 28th, two games will launch on Game Pass immediately: Kabuto Park, where you collect bugs, and the party racing game Crashout Crew.
