Sung Jinwoo starts out Solo Leveling as a weak E-Rank Hunter who can barely hold his own in a fight. Just barely stronger than the average human, there’s not much Sung Jinwoo can do in a dungeon as an E-Rank. That doesn’t stop him from always trying his hardest and putting his life on the line, doubly so when he gains access to the System and quickly uses his ability to level up as a means of growing into the strongest man alive by the end of Solo Leveling.
Unlike his powerful father, Sung Jinwoo had to work incredibly hard and risk his life repeatedly to become strong. While his mother and sister are ordinary people, the rest of his family are naturally gifted Hunters. Between the original Solo Leveling story and Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Sung Jinwoo’s family has expanded and become significantly more powerful, with many members becoming exceptionally strong characters.
5. Yoo Jin-Ho Becomes Sung Jinwoo’s Brother in Law in the New Timeline
Yoo Jin-Ho is a D-Rank Hunter specializing in defense, and he becomes Sung Jinwoo’s close friend and trusted assistant throughout the story of Solo Leveling, though Sung Jinwoo isn’t always thrilled about it. Before Sung Jinwoo gained his special abilities, Yoo Jin-Ho was actually the stronger of the two. In the new timeline presented in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Yoo Jin-Ho marries Sung Jinah, making him Sung Jinwoo’s brother-in-law.
Yoo Jin-Ho steps in to help care for Sung Suho when Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In aren’t around. While not a particularly strong Hunter – even for a D-Rank – he compensates with top-of-the-line gear. He’s best known for co-founding the Ahjin Guild, which becomes the most powerful in South Korea, largely thanks to Sung Jinwoo’s abilities. Ultimately, Yoo Jin-Ho is a valuable ally to Sung Jinwoo because of his network and resources, rather than his own strength.
4. Sung Il-Hwan is an Unofficial S-Rank Who Fought Multiple Monarchs at Once
When Sung Il-Hwan was lost in a dungeon raid before the start of Solo Leveling, the Ranking system hadn’t been implemented yet. Based on feats alone, Sung Il-Hwan is clearly a higher-tier S-Rank Hunter. Sung Il-Hwan is naturally very powerful, and goes to battle two Monarchs at once during the Monarch Wars arc at the end of Solo Leveling. He dies in the end, but even National Level Hunters are outclassed by Monarchs.
It’s incredible that Sung Il-Hwan managed to fight off both Rakan, the Monarch of Fangs, and Sillad, the Monarch of Frost, simultaneously. In Solo Leveling Ragnarok, he’s also unaffected by the Outer Gods, something even the strongest National Level Hunters can’t achieve. This shows he’s become much more powerful than he used to be. When it comes to the Ruler’s Vessels, Sung Il-Hwan is currently the most powerful one.
3. Cha Hae-In Becomes One of the Strongest Hunters Alive in Ragnarok
Cha Hae-In is a top-level Hunter in South Korea, known for her incredible strength. While she was surpassed by Sung Jinwoo and the Monarchs in the original Solo Leveling story, she becomes one of the strongest Hunters globally in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. She later marries Sung Jinwoo and gives birth to their son, Sung Suho.
Cha Hae-In becomes a vessel for a powerful being while pregnant with Sung Suho, who is destined to reach the same level of strength as Sung Jinwoo. This pregnancy dramatically increases her abilities, making her powerful enough to defeat an Apostle of Itarim and absorb its energy on her own. As a result, in the events of Ragnarok, Cha Hae-In surpasses even the strongest National Level Hunters like Thomas Andre and Liu Zhigang.
2. Sung Suho Inherits His Father’s Overwhelming Power
In the new timeline of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Sung Suho is the son of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In. Unlike his father, Sung Suho is born with innate power that develops during his teenage years. He’s already one of the strongest S-Rank Hunters, second only to Sung Jinwoo, and he’s currently progressing at a rate that suggests he will eventually become even more powerful. In fact, Sung Suho levels up faster and has higher stats at the same stages of development compared to his father.
I’ve been observing Sung Suho, and it’s incredible how much potential he has. Like Sung Jinwoo, he uses the System to grow stronger, improve his abilities, and collect items. Being a Fighter, he’s already a formidable opponent. But what really sets him apart is his lineage – he’s inherited the power of two Monarchs, the Monarch of Shadows and the Monarch of Destruction, giving him control over a Shadow Army. On top of that, he can even merge with his Shadow World, Gray, through Beast Possession, which grants him an enormous power boost. It’s a really unique combination of abilities.
1. Sung Jinwoo is the Most Powerful Hunter in Existence
Sung Jinwoo is the most powerful hunter in the world of Solo Leveling. He’s far beyond even the strongest hunters, and it’s an understatement to say he’s incredibly strong. Through a special System that allows him to improve his skills, stats, and equipment, Sung Jinwoo eventually became powerful enough to defeat even the most formidable opponents, including National Level Hunters and Monarchs.
In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Sung Jinwoo is the only Hunter capable of holding back the Itarim. As the Monarch of Shadows and King of the Dead, Sung Jinwoo can raise the dead back to life – whether they be a human or a monster – recruiting them into his Shadow Army. As an extension of himself, Sung Jinwoo’s Shadows are immensely powerful, but he’s grown to a point where he doesn’t even need his Shadows to defeat the strongest characters Solo Leveling has to offer. He may not have started that way, but Sung Jinwoo is far and away the strongest member of his family.
