Fans who enjoy large-scale historical shooters like Battlefield 1 might be very interested in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, which is launching on PC and consoles on June 18, 2026. While the Battlefield series has successfully explored historical conflicts in games like Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5, the latest installment moved to a modern setting. This left some players wanting more of the classic historical warfare experience, and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam looks like it could fill that gap.
Many fans rank Battlefield 1 as a highlight of the Battlefield series. Even though it came out in 2016, SteamDB shows it still attracts around 8,000 players each day on Steam alone. Given that it’s also available on other platforms, Battlefield 1 has clearly held a strong player base for years. Despite its continued popularity, fans are eager for a new game that captures the same magic with updated graphics and new content.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Should Greatly Appeal to Battlefield 1 Fans
A key feature of Battlefield 1 was its large 64-player battles, which made players feel like they were truly in World War 1. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam offers a similar experience. It features massive maps that allow for 100-player battles – two teams of 50 competing against each other. As the name suggests, the game is set during the Vietnam War, letting players take on the roles of either American or Vietnamese soldiers. Importantly, the game strives for realism, with all weapons, vehicles, and maps based on actual events and equipment from the Vietnam War era.

If you enjoyed using tanks and planes to turn the tide in Battlefield 1, you’ll probably dig how Hell Let Loose: Vietnam handles military assets. US helicopters are seriously powerful in this game – they’re a core part of fighting. But what’s really cool is that the game isn’t a simple mirror match. The US gets those armored helicopters, but the Vietnamese can build these crazy underground tunnel systems that give them a unique edge. It’s a totally asymmetrical experience, which makes things way more interesting.
If you’re a fan of multiplayer shooters but haven’t tried Hell Let Loose: Vietnam yet, you’ll want to check it out starting May 29th. The developers, Expression Games, are releasing a free open beta that everyone can play. The beta will be available for four days, running until June 1st, letting you experience the game’s large-scale battles without spending any money.
