Paralives realistically includes sickness, which is a normal part of life and therefore fits well into a life simulation game. Because it’s still in Early Access, expect features to evolve before the final release. Right now, your characters (Paras) mainly catch viruses, but adding other kinds of illnesses could make the health system more detailed and interesting.
Viruses are going around a lot lately, especially among Paras at work – it sometimes feels like someone is getting sick every day. When one family member catches something, it quickly spreads to everyone else in the house.
Virus Effects

Viruses in Paralives can cause different issues, but right now the digestive virus seems to be the most common. Viruses generally make your Paras experience needs more often, and sometimes they can even cause Paras to temporarily ignore certain needs altogether. Specifically, if a Para catches the digestive virus, they’ll need to use the bathroom more frequently and won’t feel hungry.
When your Paras are sick or feeling down, it affects their ability to learn. They won’t improve their skills – like when they’re fixing something – if they’re uncomfortable or in a bad mood. So, it’s best not to try and train them while they’re unwell, as they likely won’t make any progress.
Treating Viruses
If your Paras get a virus, you have two choices. You can let it run its course, and you can monitor its progress with the timer on the virus status effect. These viruses typically last around 12 in-game hours, so the wait isn’t too long. However, simply waiting allows the virus to potentially spread to other members of your household.
If you prefer, you can take your sick Para to the clinic or emergency room – both are located in town and clearly marked. Simply select either location and choose the treatment option. Your Para will go to the building, receive care, and the virus will be cured, removing the negative effect.

If you’re really stuck, you can use cheats to quickly remove viruses by clearing any active status effects. To access the cheat console, press Ctrl + F1 or Ctrl + Shift + C. If your Pals are getting infected with viruses too frequently, using cheats is a temporary fix while the developers work on a solution. Even if you usually prefer not to use cheats in life simulation games, it’s helpful to know they exist in the early access version of Paralives, as you might run into issues that can’t be resolved through normal gameplay right now.
