Filming for the third season of “House of the Dragon” has been ongoing for close to a month now, and the list of actors joining the production keeps expanding. The most recent recruit hails from the series “Andor,” adding an unanticipated yet endearing star to our ensemble.
In the forthcoming season of House of the Dragon, viewers can anticipate a surge of fresh characters as tensions escalate during the Targaryen Civil War, featuring two factions: the Greens, under Aemond Targaryen and Otto Hightower, and the Blacks, headed by Queen Rhaenyra and her uncle-husband Daemon Targaryen. The last season ended in suspense with both sides gathering forces for an impending battle(s). However, according to showrunner Ryan Condal and leaked set images, the first episode of Season 3 will kick off with the renowned Battle of the Gullet—a fierce naval skirmish where the Blacks endeavor to breach the Greens’ siege of Dragonstone, resulting in substantial casualties on both sides.
Joplin Sibtain Is the Lord Of House Roxton
From Ferrix to Westeros

As reported by Variety, Joplin Sibtain, a 55-year-old English actor known for his role in Star Wars series Andor as Brasso, has joined the Game of Thrones prequel with the character Ser “Bold” Jon Roxton, head of House Roxton and a firm supporter of the Greens. Sibtain joins other recent cast members such as Barry Sloane portraying Ser Adrian Redfort and Tom Cullen playing Ser Luthor Largent. Some other notable additions to the show since March include James Norton as Ormund Hightower, Tommy Flanagan as Roddy the Ruin, Peter Polycarpou as Lord Gaunt, and Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly.
In line with Ryan Condal’s recent hint, Sibtain’s role seems to be connected. Two weeks ago, Condal suggested the appearance of three new Valyrian steel swords without revealing specifics. In George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” a book that serves as the source material for “House of the Dragon,” Ser Jon Roxton wields the Valyrian steel sword Orphan-Maker, which he uses effectively in the Battle of Honeywine and the Second Battle of Tumbleton. Since Ormund Hightower has been cast (likely with his Valyrian blade, Vigilance), it suggests that only Ser William Royce, who may be in possession of the Valyrian steel sword Lamentation, remains to possibly complete the trio hinted by Condal.
Enthusiasts who appreciated Sibtain’s portrayal of the faithful and valiant Brasso in seasons 1 and 2 of Andor are in store for a treat, as they will witness him take on another impactful role. However, they should prepare themselves. Those familiar with Ser Jon Roxton’s fate in Westeros would know that it is more gruesome than Brasso’s heroic journey on Ferrix. Nevertheless, the shift from the industrial harshness of Ferrix to the bloody battlegrounds of Westeros in House of the Dragon promises to be intriguing, given that Jon Roxton’s battle-hardened spirit is quite different from what Brasso fans have come to expect. As for Sibtain himself, this would mark his most prominent character since his days playing Tarak Ital in a Doctor Who episode and voicing video game characters.
