According to AtlanticoHoy, production on Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has hit a snag. The Game of Thrones spin-off premiered its first season in January and February 2026, and HBO quickly renewed it thanks to the show’s strong performance and positive reception from viewers.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s stories, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms follows the adventures of Sir Duncan the Tall (played by Peter Claffey) and Prince Aegon Targaryen (Dexter Sol Ansell) as they travel across Westeros during the reign of the Targaryen family. Although filming for the second season began in December 2025, the production has recently encountered a significant problem.
Why Has A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Been Delayed?
Despite concerns about whether A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will get a second season, production has hit a snag. Filming started in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but has now moved to Gran Canaria, Spain. Recent severe weather and rising water levels have caused a temporary halt. The La Niñas Dam reached a 15-year high water level, and some of the show’s set remains underwater.
It’s unclear what this means for the production of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but Atlantico Hoy reports that the production company needs to submit a plan to dismantle and remove the set from its current location by May 15th. Because of this, HBO has moved filming from Gran Canaria and is now shooting elsewhere on the Spanish mainland.
What Will A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms Be About?
The second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be based on The Sworn Sword, the second story in George R. R. Martin’s Dunk & Egg series. Picking up about a year and a half after the events of Season 1, Dunk and Egg journey into the Reach, a region suffering from a harsh drought. They find themselves caught in a complicated disagreement over water rights, which quickly turns into a larger conflict. Like the first season, the new episodes will likely emphasize realistic characters and their stories over large-scale battles.
The second season will likely expand on the world of Westeros, especially the events following the Blackfyre Rebellion. We’ll also see how Egg’s choices impact the story and how he develops as a Targaryen. Ideally, the season will connect their journey to the larger history and mythology of the Game of Thrones universe.
