Aimie Killeen Appointed as Chief Legal Officer of Digital Currency Group

As someone who closely follows the digital currency space, I’m thrilled about Digital Currency Group (DCG) appointing Aimie Killeen as their new Chief Legal Officer. DCG is making a strategic move by bringing on board an experienced legal expert like Killeen, especially during this crucial time when they are seeking to strengthen their legal and corporate governance framework.

I’ve observed that Digital Currency Group (DCG) has made an important announcement: they have appointed me as their new Chief Legal Officer. This decision is significant given DCG’s current stage of development, as the company is working diligently to strengthen its legal and corporate governance structure.

Aimie Killeen’s Legal Expertise

Observing from the sidelines, I can’t help but notice Aimie Killeen bringing a robust legal perspective to her fresh role at Digital Currency Group. With her previous tenure as the Chief Legal Officer at Billtrust, a software and payments innovator, she has amassed a wealth of experience in the intricacies of legal operations, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance. Her impactful contributions to Billtrust are evident through the strategic legal frameworks she established, enabling the company to thrive even in challenging regulatory landscapes.

It’s with great pleasure that we share the news: beginning May 1st, Aimie Killeen will be part of our DCG family as our new Chief Legal Officer. Her wealth of legal experience in the fintech industry and beyond is a valuable addition to our leadership team. Welcome, Aimie!

Before joining Billtrust, Killeen had previously spent nine years as a senior associate at Ashurst, an Australian law firm. Following her tenure at Ashurst, she held the position of global general counsel at DirectCash, a financial services company, and later became an executive vice president at CardTronics after they acquired DirectCash Payments.

With a diverse background spanning various industries and extensive knowledge of global markets, Andrea is an ideal candidate for handling the complex legal issues at DCG.

Strategic Growth and Legal Stability

Appointing Aimie Killeen is part of Digital Currency Group (DCG)’s efforts to strengthen its management team and ensure steady guidance amidst the volatile digital currencies sector. Following the bankruptcy declaration of its affiliate, Genesis, in January 2023, DCG has faced several legal challenges.

In simpler terms, a well-defined legal structure was necessary to handle the consequences and negotiate with creditors and business associates following the resolution of the problems.

DCG Founder and CEO Barry Silbert put his trust in Killeen’s competence, stating that,

“Aimie’s extensive background and broad perspective make her an essential partner as we work towards accomplishing our strategic objectives and advancing our business.”

Killeen’s role in addressing the current legal issues and paving the way for DCG’s future expansion is underscored by this assessment.

Enhancing Multinational Operations

Starting May 1st, I’ll take charge of DCG’s international legal operations, overseeing the team from a global perspective to bolster our firm’s capabilities in navigating complex legal matters across various jurisdictions. My expertise will prove invaluable as we tackle regulatory challenges that are integral to both our ongoing and future projects.

Furthermore, she is responsible for contributing significantly to DCG’s mergers and acquisitions plan. Her role entails ensuring that all procedures align with international laws and corporate governance standards. This may involve collaborating with various entities to safeguard and boost DCG’s interests in diverse global markets.
