Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced Release Date Confirmed

A little over a month ago, Jean Guesdon, who leads content creation for the Assassin’s Creed series, announced that a new game, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, was in development. Now, reports indicate the game is officially scheduled to be released on Thursday, July 9th, 2026.

Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming recently revealed the expected release date for Resynced, a remake of the 2013 game Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Ubisoft will officially announce the game next week.

Henderson reports that select media outlets and content creators received an advance copy of Resynced’s reveal presentation on April 16th. The roughly 30-minute presentation announced the remake will be released this summer.

The Development and Status of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced

Similar to past Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced was leaked well before its official announcement. Details about the game’s creation actually surfaced as early as 2023.

News about the remake started appearing in 2024 when Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, announced they were working on several remakes of older Assassin’s Creed games, in addition to completely new titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe.

Evidence strongly suggests a remake of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is in the works, tentatively titled Resynced. Actor Matt Ryan, who played Edward Kenway, hinted at the remake during a fan interaction at Comic Con Manchester. A rating for the game briefly appeared on the PEGI website before being taken down, and Ubisoft Singapore, the studio behind Skull and Bones, is believed to be leading the project.

I was really looking forward to Resynced back in March – it was supposed to come out for Ubisoft’s 40th anniversary! But it got delayed, along with a bunch of other Ubisoft games. They even cancelled a few, like the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. Apparently, Ubisoft is trying to get things back on track and make sure they’re growing at a healthy pace, so they had to make some tough calls.

News about the remake started appearing in 2024 when Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, announced that several Assassin’s Creed remakes were in development.

Several clues suggested that Resynced was originally planned for release in early 2026. These included prominent appearances of Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed‘s collaboration with RAID: Shadow Legends, and a statue of him created by Pure Arts, which was found shortly after the game’s delays were announced.

As a huge fan, I’ve been so excited to hear that Ubisoft might finally be showing off more of the Prince of Persia: The Fallen King remake! This week, things really ramped up when some art for the game – which is now apparently being called Resynced – accidentally showed up on the Ubisoft launcher. It even had a little description saying we’ll be able to play it on day one with a Ubisoft+ Premium subscription, and that it’s set in the Caribbean. Seriously, I can’t wait!

Okay, so from what I’ve heard, the new Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced isn’t going to be a full-on RPG like the last few games. They’re going back to the feel of the original Black Flag from 2013, focusing on the story and character, but the actual fighting is supposed to be more like what we saw in Shadows. It sounds like a really cool mix!

The upcoming Black Flag game will likely feature changing weather conditions, much like the dynamic weather and seasons in Shadows. Meanwhile, Resynced is expected to focus entirely on Edward Kenway’s journey as a pirate and Assassin, without any modern-day story elements.
