As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Astrobotanica piques my interest like no other game has in quite some time. My gaming journey began back in the 80s, where pixelated graphics and simple gameplay ruled the roost. Fast forward to today, and here we are with a botany-centric survival game set in prehistoric Earth, offering a unique blend of exploration, cultivation, and human interaction!

Check out the new teaser trailer, below:
Astrobotanica presents a laid-back survival experience set within an expansive prehistoric Earth. You find yourself as Xel, an intelligent extraterrestrial, whose spaceship met with disaster during your intergalactic journey in search of valuable seeds to nourish your species back home. Now, you have the opportunity to discover plant varieties that would flourish on your planet, but first, it’s crucial to adapt and survive in the challenging Pleistocene era of Earth, teeming with untamed wildlife and primitive human populations.
As an interstellar botanist, I find myself immersed in a first-person exploration game set on the ancient Earth of the Pleistocene era. My mission: survival, cultivation, and farming. I must master the rudiments of surviving in this prehistoric landscape to concoct potions for various purposes, decipher intricate puzzles to unveil hidden sanctums, and expand my base to withstand nature’s wrath and invasions by carnivorous creatures coveting my crops.
The developer shares that “Astrobotanica” transports us 300,000 years back in time to Earth’s Pleistocene era. It invites players into an expansive, lush environment teeming with ancient flora and fauna, as well as striking vistas that will leave lasting impressions.
Here’s some of the key features from the title:
- Cultivation: Nurturing plant species and learning how to manage farming in Earth’s environments.
- Plant research: Experimenting with fruit to discover their unique qualities and effects on living organisms and the environment.
- Exploration: Travelling between islands and exploring different biomes to discover new plants, while learning to tackle dangerous wildlife and solve hidden mysteries.
- Tonics Crafting: Mixing ingredients obtained from local plant life to manufacture mixtures for various uses, and developing recipes for later.
- Human Interaction: Breaking the ice and connecting with primal humans inhabiting the islands, to foster relationships that can lead to trading and mutual assistance.
In Autumn, we’re arranging a public demonstration for our game, which is scheduled to debut on Steam. Space Goblin explains that during this demo, we’ll combine feedback from players who took part in the early Alpha testing with our original design plans. This will help us collect valuable insights from a broad audience before our Early Access release. The feedback gathered from Steam users will aid us in optimizing technical aspects for various hardware and software configurations. Further details about when the demo will take place, its content, and scale will be shared after we complete the Alpha testing phase.
Astrobotanica is coming to PC.
