Best Crossplay Games On Xbox Game Pass (April 2026 Update)

With so many games available through Xbox Game Pass, you’re likely to find something you love, including titles that let you play with friends on different devices. While not all games offer this feature, more and more developers are adding crossplay, particularly for games focused on online multiplayer. Crossplay lets players on various platforms team up, which can build a stronger community and keep games popular for longer. Plus, you can usually disable crossplay if you prefer to play only with others on the same platform.

It’s tricky to find a complete list of Game Pass games that let you play with people on other platforms, so I’ve compiled one with some of the best options – all of which I’ve personally checked. While this list isn’t totally comprehensive, it includes most of the popular games and recent releases. You can usually find crossplay information for any game on its Xbox store page if you’re unsure.

April 20 Update:

  • Added: MK1 and Forza Horizon 5 (for the final time, before FH6 comes out). Also, I wrote an article covering every crossplay game on Game Pass, and that is linked right below this.

Sea Of Thieves

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox, PlayStation, and PC

I’ve been following Sea of Thieves since it first came out in 2018, and it’s really grown on me! It’s got this awesome open-world feel, looks fantastic, and the developers at Rare are constantly adding new stuff. While you can play solo, it’s way more fun with friends. The game is really built around the idea of forming a crew and experiencing the pirate life together – that’s when it truly shines!

Because Sea of Thieves is an online game, you’ll inevitably encounter other players, whether you’re looking for company or not. Thankfully, crossplay is supported, and with the game often available through Game Pass, it’s smart to have one unified online community. However, players using controllers might find player-versus-player combat challenging against those using a keyboard and mouse, leading to some unfair fights. Ultimately, Sea of Thieves’ crossplay is best enjoyed when friends on different platforms want to play together.

In 2026, the game reached its highest player count. Season 19, called “Fights & Festivals,” launched on March 19, 2026, and introduced improvements to player-versus-player combat, along with a new battle royale mode focused on ship-to-ship fighting called “Last Ship Standing.”

Xbox users can disable crossplay support if they wish.

Mortal Kombat 1

Jump Into The Arena

Despite being relatively new, Mortal Kombat 1 has had an interesting journey. It initially received good reviews, but its reputation dipped somewhat afterward, though the online community is expected to stay strong for a while. When a fighting game is on Game Pass, most new players probably check it out for the single-player experience, since those interested in online play likely already have. So, is MK1 worth playing just for its story mode, towers, and invasions? Yes, even though none of those features are exceptional.

The game feels like a movie – dramatic and exaggerated, though sometimes uneven. While starting the story over with MK1 makes it easy for new players to get into the series, it unfortunately means losing some of the established story from past games. The main story mode should keep you playing for a few hours, and the single-player towers and invasion modes offer extra replayability if you prefer not to play online. Crossplay is essential for these modes, making sure there are always other players available.

As of 2026, the game is still running, but in maintenance mode. You should be able to find opponents without trouble, though official support for the original MK1 version has mostly ended.

Hunt: Showdown 1896

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox and PlayStation (Matchmaking)

Originally known as Hunt: Showdown, the game received a major update in 2024 and is now called 1896. While the core gameplay remains the same, the setting has been significantly changed. Players explore atmospheric maps inspired by old Louisiana, taking on bounty hunts that require finding clues and defeating a final boss. Alternatively, players can focus on player-versus-player combat, slowly earning rewards and extracting safely. This strategy is often necessary for solo players, as team play is dominant, and even the AI enemies can be challenging for those who aren’t well-equipped or fortunate.

Most players will probably enjoy Hunt: Showdown 1896 as a team-based game, playing with friends. Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S can play together, and a March 2026 update will let them send invites to each other, no matter which console they’re on.

As of 2026, crossplay is fully functional. The update on March 18, 2026, allowed PlayStation 5 and Xbox players to invite each other to play together.

Dead By Daylight

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Mobile, and Nintendo Switch

Dead by Daylight has clearly become a long-term success. Behaviour Interactive regularly keeps the game fresh and exciting with new content, often featuring characters from well-known horror franchises. While other similar games exist, Dead by Daylight is currently the most popular 4v1 survival horror game available.

Behaviour Interactive significantly boosted the longevity of Dead by Daylight in 2020 by allowing players on consoles and PCs to play together. The game itself is a thrilling asymmetrical experience where four survivors try to repair generators and escape while being hunted by a single killer. Each character, whether survivor or killer, has their own special skills and drawbacks. While matches can sometimes feel repetitive, the game’s large roster of killers and survivors offers plenty of variety for players who enjoy experimenting with different characters.

On March 17, 2026, a significant content update titled “All-Kill: Comeback” was released, adding a new map and playable Survivor character.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox, PS5, and PC

It took a while for Space Marine 2 to come out, and while it’s not perfect, it generally delivers on its promises. You can play the campaign alone, with the help of two AI teammates who sometimes prove useful. But the game is best experienced in online co-op, where a coordinated team of three Space Marines is a truly formidable force. The campaign is relatively short, offering around 10 hours of gameplay, especially if you avoid the higher difficulty settings.

In addition to the main story campaign, Space Marine 2 offers several other ways to play. Operations are a series of missions where you and your friends can battle AI enemies. If you prefer a wave-based experience, there’s also Siege mode. Competitive players can jump into Eternal War, a 6v6 team-based PvP mode. However, it’s important to note that Eternal War doesn’t allow players on consoles and PCs to play together. With all this content, Space Marine 2 should keep Game Pass subscribers entertained for a long time, and the availability of crossplay in most modes makes it easier to team up with friends.

As of 2026, Space Marine 2 remains very popular with a large and engaged player base, and continues to receive regular updates. The major “Techmarine Update” launched on February 26, 2026, introducing a new playable class, a cooperative PvE mission, and improvements to game balance.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox, PlayStation, and PC

The Call of Duty series has faced some criticism recently, but its new releases consistently rank among the most popular multiplayer games each year. Black Ops 7 didn’t generate as much excitement as previous installments and has its share of problems preventing it from being a standout title. While the single-player campaign is somewhat underwhelming and may not satisfy those looking for a strong solo experience, the multiplayer mode is generally considered a worthwhile purchase for fans of fast-paced, competitive gameplay.

The maps are well-designed, and the gameplay feels like a natural improvement over past games. The Zombies mode is particularly strong – it’s the best it’s been since the 2020 release of Black Ops Cold War, offering classic cooperative wave-based action. As a longtime Call of Duty player who always starts with Zombies, I can say that this installment definitely delivers.

As of 2026, the game is incredibly popular. Black Ops 7 currently offers the best cross-platform experience, thanks to its new “Omnimovement” system which makes playing with friends on PlayStation 5 or PC feel smooth and connected. If you’re playing on the Avalon Warzone map, make sure crossplay is enabled in your settings to find matches quickly – usually in under 10 seconds.

Gears of War: Reloaded

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox, PlayStation, and PC

It’s strange, but Gears of War is now available on PlayStation! It feels unusual, but it’s a welcome change. This means more players than ever can enjoy Gears of War: Reloaded, especially those with Game Pass, which should keep the online multiplayer modes active. Plus, you can now play the entire campaign in two-player co-op with friends who don’t own an Xbox or PC – something that would have been unimaginable not long ago.

Gears of War: Reloaded supports full crossplay between Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

So, is Reloaded a good game? Absolutely, especially if you’ve never played Gears of War before. While the shooting mechanics might feel a little old-fashioned now, they’re still enjoyable, and the campaign keeps things moving at a good pace. Even if you don’t care about playing online, the single-player (or co-op) story is definitely worth checking out. If you’re already a Gears of War veteran, the multiplayer modes might be enough to bring you back.

As of 2026, the best way to experience the game is with friends! It’s a great entry point for new players on PS5 or PC, and the recent update delivering 120 FPS multiplayer makes playing with friends across different platforms remarkably smooth.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Switch

Tribute Games has a knack for making fantastic beat ’em up games, and Marvel Cosmic Invasion could be their best one yet. While TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is also excellent, Marvel Cosmic Invasion will offer full crossplay – a feature the earlier game lacks. The new game honors classic beat ’em ups while feeling modern, with gameplay that’s fun, easy to pick up, and visually appealing. You’ll eventually be able to choose from 15 different Marvel heroes, each with their own unique fighting style. The story mode isn’t very long, but the large and diverse character roster should provide plenty of replay value.

Playing alone is fun, but Marvel Cosmic Invasion really shines when played with others. Adding more players ramps up the excitement, creating a wonderfully chaotic experience that rivals the best modern action games. It even includes special team-up moves for certain character combinations – it’s fantastic!

As of 2026, the game won’t be hugely popular, but you should still be able to find opponents for online matches.

Grounded 2

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox and PC

I was honestly surprised when Obsidian announced Grounded 2 – it felt like they were still actively supporting the first game! But it’s here now, and after getting my hands on the Game Preview/Steam Early Access version, I can say it really builds on everything that made the original so great. It’s a fantastic step forward.

Taking place in a park instead of a backyard, Grounded 2 feels like an expanded and improved version of the original Grounded, though it still has some areas that need polish. A big focus of the sequel is letting you customize your character more than before, allowing for a truly personal experience. If you’re familiar with Grounded, you’ll find the gameplay similar – it’s still a survival game centered around crafting – but it’s looking to be a fantastic follow-up.

As of April 2026, Grounded 2 is still being developed and available in a preview/early access format, but it’s already gained a lot of players. The latest update, called “Toxic Tangle,” added a new Garden area to explore and a Ladybug Buggy you can ride. Currently, you can’t play Grounded 2 on PlayStation 5.

Grounded is still on Game Pass, and it supports crossplay.

PowerWash Simulator 2

Platforms That Support Crossplay: Xbox and PC

We’ve all probably dismissed a game idea as boring, only to be surprised by how enjoyable it actually is. That’s been my experience with most work simulation games, and PowerWash Simulator is a perfect example. It’s strange – cleaning isn’t fun in real life, but FuturLab has somehow made it incredibly satisfying and relaxing as a video game.

The original PowerWash Simulator was excellent, and the new sequel is even more impressive. While you can absolutely enjoy it on your own, it’s even more fun with a friend thanks to the two-player campaign. You can also team up with up to three other players in free mode for some serious cleaning action. If you’re not sure if this type of game appeals to you, give it a few hours – you’ll quickly discover if it’s a good fit.

As of 2026, the game remains very active. An update (version 1.2) was released on March 10th with some improvements and bug fixes, including enhancements to multiplayer. The “Adventure Time” downloadable content became available on April 9, 2026, but it’s a separate purchase.
