In Outbound, before you start playing, you’ll choose a vehicle to explore the game’s world. There are three options at the beginning, and each has strengths and weaknesses. The open world is full of challenges, so deciding which vehicle’s stats are most important can be tough. This guide will walk you through each vehicle to help you pick the best one for your adventure.
What’s the Best Vehicle in Outbound?
Players can select from three different vehicles. If you own the School Bus Adventures DLC, there’s a fourth option available. These vehicles are:
- Classic: A solid all-around performer with a slightly higher ‘Building Space’ stat, an average ‘Carrying Weight’, and a slightly below average ‘Handling’ stat.
- Pathmaker: Smaller in space, but unstoppable in the wild. It has a below-average ‘Building Space’ stat, a slightly above-average ‘Carrying Weight’ stat, and an above-average ‘Handling’ stat.
- Big One: Spacious by design, made for comfort over speed. It has a nearly maxed-out ‘Building Space’ stat, an above-average ‘Carrying Weight’ stat, and a below-average ‘Handling’ stat.
- Schoolie: This is a fully customized school bus ready for adventure that’s only available if you have the DLC. It has near maxed out ‘Building Space’ and ‘Carrying Weight’ stats, but below average ‘Handling.’
Although these numbers might look important, they don’t actually change how the game plays very much. I’ve found that having extra carrying capacity and more room to build is much more helpful than how well your vehicle drives. Because of this, I suggest choosing the ‘Big One,’ or the ‘Schoolie’ if you have the School Bus Adventures DLC.
All the vehicles feel a little clunky to drive, and choosing the Pathmaker doesn’t really help since you lose out on other benefits. I prefer to gather as many resources as possible, so I like vehicles that can carry a lot.
Don’t worry too much if you started with the Pathmaker or Classic vehicle. As mentioned earlier, they don’t significantly impact gameplay, and you can definitely still win the game with either one. You’ll just need to adjust your strategy for navigating the world based on your vehicle’s strengths and weaknesses.
