Bleach: 10 Strongest Anime Protagonists Ichigo Can Beat, Ranked

It’s always fun for anime fans to imagine how their favorite action heroes would fare in battles, whether within the same series or across different worlds. These ‘what if?’ scenarios often pop up when a character gets stronger, and fans immediately start testing their new abilities against various opponents. The anticipation is especially high when a popular character like Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach is about to make a comeback, as everyone wonders just how powerful they’ve become.

Ichigo Kurosaki is remarkably powerful, perhaps even more so than many anime fans realize. While Bleach isn’t as popular as series like Naruto and One Piece, its power scaling is still incredibly high. Ichigo has come a long way from his early battles, and is now a truly formidable fighter with amazing speed, strength, spiritual energy, and skill with a sword. He could easily defeat many well-known action heroes, and would be a serious threat even against opponents with a good chance of winning.

Tanjiro Kamado is Just a Miniature Ichigo Kurosaki

Transparent World Won’t Mean a Thing to Ichigo in This Fight

Many fans have noticed that Demon Slayer shares similarities with Bleach. Both series center around swordsmen battling monsters using unique abilities, and Demon Slayer‘s Hashira are very reminiscent of Bleach‘s Gotei 13. Like Ichigo from Bleach, Tanjiro Kamado is a kind-hearted protagonist who becomes a swordsman after a tragic family attack.

While Tanjiro from Demon Slayer is incredibly determined – even more so than Ichigo – he’s not as powerful. The show relies on its appealing art style and the inspiring spirit of its characters, not overwhelming strength. Because of this, Tanjiro wouldn’t stand a chance against Ichigo in a sword fight. None of Tanjiro’s abilities, like the Hinokami Kagura, the Demon Slayer Mark, or even being able to see through everything with Transparent World, would be enough to win.

Asta Has No Hope in a Sword Duel With Ichigo

Ichigo’s Speed and Strength Tower Over Asta’s Own

I’ve noticed a lot of action-packed shonen anime feature characters similar to Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach – often skilled swordsmen or those with a powerful inner force. Asta from Black Clover definitely fits that mold; he’s a swordsman who wields a uniquely large sword that can cancel out magic. While his sword gives him a fighting chance against magical opponents, I think Ichigo would still be a really tough opponent for him to beat.

Ichigo is simply too powerful for Asta in this matchup. While Asta is a skilled fighter with impressive strength and the ability to negate magic, it’s not enough to overcome Ichigo’s overwhelming power. Ichigo’s speed is a decisive factor; he could defeat Asta before Asta even reacts.

Yuji Itadori Isn’t Going to Defeat Ichigo in a Half-Other Showdown

Ryomen Sukuna Must Fear Ichigo’s Inner Hollow

Like many popular action anime such as Bleach and Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen has gained a huge following. However, despite these similarities, the power levels in Jujutsu Kaisen don’t quite match up. While characters like Maki Zenin have shown incredible strength – even defeating her entire clan on her own – Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach operates on a completely different scale.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, no one stands a chance against someone as powerful as Ichigo. While Yuji Itadori shares some similarities with Ichigo – both are strong-willed teenagers who suddenly gained immense power – Ryomen Sukuna isn’t nearly as strong as Ichigo’s inner Hollow form. Sukuna might be the king of curses, but Ichigo doesn’t recognize any ruler, not even Yhwach, and definitely not Sukuna.

Izuku Midoriya Needs More Than Seven Quirks to Defeat Ichigo

One For All Can’t Smash its Way Through Getsuga Tensho

In My Hero Academia, Deku went from having no powers to becoming a hero after receiving One For All, which included abilities like Blackwhip and Fa Jin. What really sets him apart is his ability to analyze other people’s Quirks – he spent years studying them since he didn’t have one of his own. He’s also a quick and clever fighter, able to think on his feet and make smart decisions in battle.

Deku managed to win his last fight against Tomura Shigaraki, but a bigger challenge remains. Compared to characters in My Hero Academia, Ichigo Kurosaki, especially when he’s at his strongest with his full Hollow form and final Zangetsu, is on a completely different power level – Deku wouldn’t stand a chance.

Yusuke Urameshi Must Throw in the Towel After Battling Ichigo

Raizen’s Descendant Has Been Outclassed

It’s very likely that Yu Yu Hakusho influenced the anime Bleach. Both feature teenage martial artists who gain power by battling supernatural enemies. Like Ichigo Kurosaki, Yusuke Urameshi is a dedicated fighter who also has a powerful lineage, tracing back to Raizen.

Yusuke proved incredibly strong, battling the demon Yomi for a remarkable 60 hours. However, he wouldn’t stand a chance against Ichigo Kurosaki. Ichigo’s power would allow him to easily defeat either Yusuke or Yomi in a fight. Yusuke is especially at a disadvantage against Ichigo’s sword, as he’s more accustomed to defending against punches and kicks rather than bladed weapons.

Natsu Dragneel’s Flames Will Be Extinguished While Fighting Ichigo

Fire Magic Won’t Last Long Against Bankai

Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail is a classic example of the ‘himbo’ archetype – a strong, well-meaning character who isn’t the brightest, much like Goku from earlier anime. Despite appearing a bit clueless at times, Natsu is actually quite smart and determined when fighting, knowing when to get serious and defeat his enemies. Throughout the series, he’s also gotten significantly stronger, gaining power from sources like Laxus Dreyar and fully embracing his identity as E.N.D.

Natsu fights with incredible intensity, but it’s difficult for anyone to compete with Ichigo Kurosaki’s speed. Ichigo is so fast he can make light seem slow, easily dodging attacks at full power. Natsu relies on powerful attacks but lacks strong defenses, and his fire-based offense won’t be enough against Ichigo’s blade, Tensa Zangetsu. Once Ichigo closes the distance, Natsu doesn’t have a way to win.

Frieren is More Used to Fighting Wizards and Demons

Ichigo’s Speed Makes Frieren’s Magical Talent Worthless

While Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a wonderful fantasy anime, it doesn’t automatically mean the characters are incredibly powerful in battles against others. Frieren, as an elf and skilled wizard, is one of the strongest fighters in her world, drawing on hundreds of years of experience. This makes her very effective against typical enemies like demons and other magic users.

In a fight, Ichigo is simply on a different level than Frieren. Her years of experience wouldn’t be enough to overcome his speed and power. Ichigo moves far too quickly for any of her spells to land, and if they were to clash up close, his sword would easily defeat her.

Eren Yeager’s Titan Forms Won’t Win Him This Fight

Even the Rumbling Means Little to Ichigo

Eren Yeager is the strongest of all the Nine Titans in Attack on Titan. He began with the powerful Attack Titan, and quickly gained more strength by defeating and absorbing the War Hammer Titan’s abilities. He then obtained the Founding Titan, which allowed him to control a massive army of Colossal Titans.

These powers are useful when fighting other Titans or regular armies, as demonstrated throughout Attack on Titan. However, Eren would struggle against a skilled fighter like Ichigo. Ichigo’s speed and agility would allow him to avoid Eren’s attacks, and he could then use his powerful techniques, Tensa Zangetsu and Getsuga Tensho, to defeat Eren in any of his Titan forms.

Monkey D. Luffy Can’t Win Even With Gear 5

Gear 5 Doesn’t Last Long Enough to Overcome Tensa Zangetsu’s Blade

As a huge One Piece fan, I’ve been following Luffy’s journey for years, and it’s amazing to see how far he’s come! He’s the last of the big three shonen heroes still going strong, and honestly, I’m dying to see his full potential unleashed. Until the story wraps up, we’re getting glimpses of his incredible strength, and it’s so clear why he’s earned the title of Emperor. He’s truly mastered all three types of Haki, and unleashing Gear 5? It’s a game changer!

Luffy’s abilities, like his Gear 5 form, helped him defeat the incredibly strong Kaido and even outsmart powerful opponents like Admiral Kizaru and Jaygarcia Saturn. But Luffy can’t use Gear 5 for very long and isn’t fully skilled with it yet. This means Ichigo could just barely withstand Luffy’s attacks and ultimately win a difficult fight.

Naruto Uzumaki Rivals Ichigo in Power, But Would Still Lose

Naruto Would Give Ichigo a Heck of a Fight

As a huge fan of both series, it’s amazing to see how powerful Naruto became! By the end of Naruto, he actually developed even more abilities and transformations than Ichigo from Bleach. Both guys have this incredible struggle with a powerful, inner monster, and honestly, if they ever fought in their strongest forms, it would be an epic battle! It wouldn’t be an easy win for either one – the victor would really have to fight for it.

Honestly, a battle between Naruto and Ichigo would be amazing! If Naruto went all out – Sage Mode, the full power of Kurama, massive Rasengans, and a whole army of shadow clones – he’d definitely give Ichigo a run for his money. But ultimately, I think Ichigo’s incredible speed and sheer strength would be too much for him, and that’s pretty much how I see most of Ichigo’s hypothetical fights going – he just overpowers everyone!
